Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in the dead-end town of Scarlet Hollow. Choose your path through a branching narrative so dense that you'll see less than 1/5 of the game on a single playthrough. You won't be able to save everyone. Good luck, and welcome home.

About
From the developers of Slay the Princess, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art.

Coal mines sealed off after a deadly collapse. Strange creatures preying on livestock. Houses infested with vengeful spirits. The sleepy town of Scarlet Hollow has suddenly come alive with horrors, just in time for your arrival. This was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina. All you had to do was finally meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral. But now, each new day welcomes new nightmares.
You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of the horrifying mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
The first five episodes are available now, with one major content update planned before the story reaches its conclusion.
Features
A heavily branching narrative where your decisions (actually) matter. The relationships you forge and the decisions you make will dramatically alter your journey.
A complex paranormal mystery. Investigate haunted houses, strange sightings in the woods, a deteriorating mine, and more as you try and piece together what happened in Scarlet Hollow.
Trait-based dialogue and role-playing. Scarlet Hollow's dialogue system is driven by role-playing elements that let you choose who you want to be. Are you quiet and observant? Hot and clueless? Can you talk to animals? 21 different character builds change how you interact with the world and how your story unfolds.
A dynamic relationship system that reacts to your every choice and changes how your story unfolds. People won't just like or dislike you. Become friendly rivals, bitter adversaries, best friends, or mild acquaintances with everyone in town based on how you approach the story.
Original monster designs inspired by Appalachian myths and cryptids.
No jumpscares. All of the horror in Scarlet Hollow comes from dread, tension, and a sprinkle of disturbing imagery.
A touch of romance. Whether you're into goths, dads, moms, paranormal investigators, mysterious recluses, or actual monsters, you'll find something waiting for you here. And if you'd rather avoid that entirely, your story won't be any less for it.
Hundreds of meticulously hand-drawn and traditionally inked backgrounds. Every background in the game is hand drawn and inked by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Fully immersive art. Each major character has dozens—and often hundreds—of hand-drawn sprites that interact with backgrounds and capture a full range of lighting, emotion, environment, and outfit changes.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I've been sucked into this amazing game and I'm loving every second of it!! The choices are fantastic, I love the dialogue options, you can play it so many different ways!! I so excited to play the last 2 chapters omg its so perfect and so much fun!!
Note that this is my first time playing (I'm only on Episode 3 of 5), but am very excited about where I am and the things to come! Very engaging, great story set in Appalachia, where the story choices are many and varied. The feel is gothic and creepy, and I've lost myself completely during a stressful time in my life. Thank you BlackTabby Games, you guys are awesome
Incroyable jeu, beaucoup de re jouabilité bref peak VN a faire et a refaire.
Do you enjoy getting attached to characters and then falling into despair as you realize no matter how hard you try some of them will suffer anyway? This game is for you! (I am not okay, but i love this game so much. It will hurt you.)
Have three playthroughs at time of writing and the dopamine of learning new secrets, uncovering new characters or plots is addictive. Will hold onto all saves for the epic conclusion, but each character is moving, flawed and human. Thoroughly recommend.
This is something I havent done before as far as I remember. That is to review a game in early access. But, you can also say that regarding reviewing a game that I have yet to finish This review will get a update when the last two episodes is out and perhaps even when I am done with a subsequent playtrough witch is also most likely. What a fantastic visuell novell with horror elements. If they somehow keep the quality up in the alter two episode too then this might very well be among my all time best/favourite games. With that aid that means they have to somehow tie up all the characters, the story and have a decently good ending or endings in this game. I hope some of them arent to out there or at least they make sense, but some of them are you just like you character either staying, leaving, or even romancing someone. Anyway thays for another time The games setting is great. I like that it takes place in a small town. I like the lore behind it and how each episode add something to the lore of why the town is as it is, or why thing happens. It seems quiet clearly from a first run that their are alot of things that you wont see. It earie, is somewhat creepy, the atmosphere is just on point. I also really like how the describe things and how things look in the scenes. The story is great. It well written as far as I can tell. It well told. Their are alot of details. Both in story, themes, lore, in details in the scenes. In how characters look. I like that the choises seems to matter, that it seems to lead to different paths. Or at least that you wont see everything at a first run. The game does a good job at making the characters seems flawed. Making your persoanl character having they own personalty , or at least that you have alot of choices in how you want to express your own character. I like the romance in this game, if they somewhat manage to continue that during the later episodes then tahts good. Because they seem to be alot of details and nuances in them. The words and how they are written seems to carry alot of weight The music is excellent. Adds a whole lot to the game and atmosphere I found every character good. And I feel you wont see or learn everything from them without playing alot of times There are very little I dont like from this game. I mean I could probably like that they where some character descriptions added for how characters look or are, but I guess the game does a well enough job from the portrait , so this is mostly for the main character. How does she/he etc look. Could we have small description or have a chance to say do you have long hair, short hair, long nails, short nails, jewelry, outfits/clothes etc? I mean the only trait that could perhaps have alittle to say her might be physical or hot to some extent anyway this is such a minor thing, and you could argue is a positve that it doesnt as it make it as your player to figure out how your character look and are. And perhaps they could be a little bit more differeces if you play a girl or a male etc, but it still works since it still shown or taken up in some dialogue. The trait system is also quiet good and adds a lot of variety in how things can be solved or done. There is also one trait here (hot) that I think is just good that they have and that I think more games could use either as a trait, perk or something or even having games build a little around it. Anyway I like that all traits has they own uses and have alot going for them and that some characters you meet prefer that trait or that trait or at least that it is a bonus. I mean traits like street smart witch is good, talk with animal, mythical and so on. All good. The episode structure is great and you never really know what will happen. I recommend doing the first run like live with choices you make and as some others have said try to make choices you would make. Of course there are multiple times your , I like more of these choices but, can still choose one. So multiple runs will most likely happen here. And I can really say I prefer one episode over the other either witch is another proof of how excellent this game is. One of the best game I have played this year and for that matter one of the best games I have played too. A hardcore playtrough is also something that most likely will happen, where I will try to do something different. Now the game is very good and I am curious if some of the path with change alot if I try something different. Heres hoping. Highly recommended. For the price this is well worth it, and I would even go as far as to say I would have gladly played twice if not more then that amount. Is such a well detailed world, written world, with detalied characters, lore, story beats, story themes, music, dialogue that it just hit on all the stuff that makes games special, why I love games and that I still see games likes this comes out makes me happy that I can hope that we still get good, new , unique games with unique ideas/ or good ides or at least ideas that are well exceuted. The dialogue is heavy at times, is fun at times, a few times it makes you think, a few times it can make you laugh. The intro is also great and gives you alot of early choices witch I like alot. Highly recommended . Also if you like horror that isnt focused on jump scare, then this is for you. There is a mystery in this game that I hope get solved well without taking away from the player choices. I just hope that the game does have a decently good endings or epilogues. And we are golden. Even if the rest of the episode is great it might still work out.
super interesting fun story and really cool characters, overall very good game.
