Sam & Max Hit the Road

This one is for fans of point and click adventures and the silly and irreverent humor. As a fan of Sam and Max, this game is an absolute gem.

Like a lot of LucasArts classics, I've constantly returned to this over the years. While a little obtuse, like most of them, Sam & Max is just the pinnacle for me. The gorgeous animation is still stunning, and, well, it just cracks me up, little buddy.

One of the best adventure games of all time. If you havent played it, do yourself a favour and close the curtains, grab a beverage and prepare to go on one incredible road trip.

Sam & Max Hit the Road is a charming old-school point-and-click adventure game from the early 90s. You'll find a classical experience here, complete with the nonsensical puzzles that era is known for, especially later in the game. Instead of the panel of choices other Lucasarts games used, it uses a changing right-click context wheel, which can be bothersome at times. The game runs well using SCUMM and graphically it is bearable. Issues with the game are with the design of the puzzles and navigating the game, where at times it's almost impossible to click on the correct thing or the right path. It is needlessly difficult at times, simply for difficulty's sake. Still if you long for a dose of nostalgia and some humorous writing, or never got to experience the game in the first place back then, give Sam and Max a go.
