My only complaint about this game is that, there's no way to skip the cut scenes and credit sequence. With the fact I beat the story line in 12 hours, it means you will be stuck watching all of those annoying cut scenes over and over and over and over. This game was designed to be constantly replayed, but because of not allowing skipping of scenes, it honestly will prevent me from replaying a game I very much enjoyed. This point aside, I loved the game. It was witty, fun, great control set up, easy to navigate and play, and more. 4/5 stars
Seems like it's got potential in terms of writing/art/gameplay, but the instability is completely unacceptable given that there's no autosave. I crashed over an hour past the first save point! And it is not nearly fun enough to keep replaying huge chunks of game because of crashes. (Another reviewer mentioned that default male drac was stable whereas female was not, but I I was crashing with male.) Thankfully I think I'm still in the return window. I'd consider picking it up again if there's indications the devs have made it less broken, but as of now I cannot recommend it.

Romanclevania is a metroidvania with straightforward and easy to understand humor and the option to romance a plethora of monsters, all with different personalities. Pros: Interesting game mechanics, fun characters with decent backstories, straightforward and fairly easy to grasp and play. The voice lines are immaculate, absolutely loved that. Cons: Way too short, played a whole game in 11.5 hours total (albeit on easy mode) and felt like I really didn't have enough time to relate to the characters. The game mechanics can be clunky and unaesthetic, gameplay does not feel smooth and you are going to be tanking damage for most bosses, rather than actually dodging and having to really think about the bosses mechanics. There is no originality in this game, if they could recreate an area based on something akin to real life and not have to put thought into it, they will. Do not play this game expecting some type of deep moral story or overwhelming redemption of the story, there isn't one. I wouldn't run another playthrough of this game on any of the other modes, or with the intention to date new characters personally, even though the game is so short that logically, I could date everyone I wanted and end the story with them within less than a week at most. Combine all this with the fact that the game is EXTREMELY buggy and that you're gonna have to close and reopen it at least once or twice before you start actually playing every time you go to boot it up. TLDR: Funny, gets a couple of cheap laughs out of you, wouldn't consider buying it overall though as it's really nothing great sadly. (Yes, I got the game for free, it was gifted to me)
I would give a more neutral recommendation if I could but overall I would say this is worth it if you are into weird romance stories in general and monster romance stories in specific. You have an incubus who acts like a frat guy, a brooding Japanese vampire, a "cursed" witch that looks like pumpkins and loves puns and trashy talk, a reverse werewolf where the human side is the "beast". Just look at the screen shots. It works as a game but you better enjoy the characters because "metroidvania" is a term so stretched it's practically see through. It's fun enough but nothing compelling. It's very obvious where you are supposed to go and when and it's pretty linear overall. The music however is actually pretty good and one of the few times I am looking forward to getting the soundtrack for. That said the characters all have a certain amount of depth and even the ones I didn't think I would like I actually found reasons to like them. I did not expect to find myself wanting to spend time with a pumpkin witch who introduced herself as a "switch witch". Which made elimination phases that much harder since you can't hang out with those characters anymore if eliminated. Even more so in that characters like Medusa if eliminated you lose access to the power she gives you, so there is a strategic aspect as well. Similarly in how to get upgrades you have to raise character's affection bars to get points to spend on upgrades. But...I never saw the bar decrease and frankly raising affection was pretty easy even without the gift giving aspect. So overall I wouldn't say it's a bad game. It's a game that leans heavily on the characters and for the most part they are all interesting. But the gameplay feels more excuse than fleshed out and I am not sure how often I will go back to try other character's romances despite how much I liked each character. I would say 8/10 mainly for the characters but you probably should get this on a sale unless you really are into dating type games.
multiple crashes in first 30 minutes of picking it up, uninstalled
This game was an amazing experience all the way through the various relationships and interactions you have throughout the game! 100/10 highly recommend and will play again!!!
Would I recommend this game? Truthfully, only to people who I was confident would enjoy its quirkiness. As a dating game, it's rough. The dates and buying drinks are the best part. Good banter and leaving you with tidbits of the characters. Unfortunately, it doesn't make up for only two (maybe three) characters who I felt had complete romance arcs with Drac. The rest feel like I'm reading a story's outline. Rather sigh inducing as there were definitely character arcs and "drama" I would have loved to explore more. The combat portion is fine but buggy in areas for me. I'll let others for whom side-scrolling combat is their bread and butter leave better reviews. Overall, I do like this game. It's just clear that the scope was larger than what the project could do.
It's a fun game, clearly a lot of effort went into it, it has a good and refreshing premise and gives a twist to the regular dating sim. The thing is.. it's odd to complain about this but the game is just too big. I wanted to focus more on story telling, getting to know each character and missions, but I'm really bad an navigation lol. Every task took FOREVER I got lost and went to the same places over and over, same rooms, everything. I wish the navigation was easier like more areas to fast travel or when you choose on a task to do It can guide you to it. You also have no indication which character you can talk to currently and where they are
It's glitchy, it has problems, it's clear the devs ran out of kickstarter money...but I still had fun
Wicked janky. There is no map, lighting is weird, and the combat feels forced.
