Roadside Research is a 1 to 4 player co-op gas station simulator. Except you’re aliens. And undercover. Do very human things like restocking shelves while preparing for the invasion. Just don’t get caught.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 5.43/day in the week to Aug 13 → 13.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Aliens have landed on Earth… to run a gas station. Play solo or up to 4 players and do human tasks to blend in. People depend on you, it’s your job to make sure that the shelves have the correct items, refuel customers passing by, and provide food for travelers. But most importantly, you must conduct your research.
Your mission is simple. Gather all data you can from humans without their knowledge. Scan, steal, and test various methods on customers while they stop by the gas station. Be careful not to raise the “suspicion meter” too high, as that will trigger the visit of government officials.
During the day, take care of the gas station as an ordinary employee. Restock the shelves, order wares for the shop, refuel passersby, and exchange goods for cash. At night you will be able to gather your thoughts, and plan for the next day.
Balance between two missions, upgrading the gas station to attract more customers and upgrading your alien tech to process data and gather information more efficiently. To blend in, draw a very normal human expression on your state-of-the-art disguise.
During closing hours, you can also upgrade the station, inside and outside to make sure everything is going according to plan.
Chaotic solo or co-op fun: Gather friends or play alone to manage the gas station while pursuing your alien mission.
Dual Upgrade Path: Manage upgrades for your gas station and for your alien technology at the same time
Satisfying Simulation: Clean, cook, and stock your workplace with all necessary supplies and items to make sure every customer leaves satisfied.
Alien Deception: Make sure to stay disguised and don’t get caught by human government officials. If you are too suspicious, they will turn you into goo.

So far has been great for solo or with friends I've played both ways on separate saves and had a blast. The new update (Stage 1 abduction) has add some really nice quality of life aspects like the F.A.R.T although the main questline felt kind of short although it is only the first stage of what appears to be 5 we also had already built up our shop a good bit so we already had the money to buy supplies for the building. My group only wished that the shop could be upgraded to be a little larger than the current max upgrade. I personally hope they also let us place some decor/items in the alien room upstairs especially now that the gloop fridge has been added. Only performance issues seen has been after a update but restarting the game fixed it for my whole group despite all of us having completely different specs. 8.6/10
its a little slow at the start but everything is creative and mostly well made. just be aware that this game is still being worked on, but for the most part everything is fun and works.

With there being many various store simulation games out there these days, Roadside Research adds a freshness to the genre. It has classic elements found in other games of the genre, such as the satisfying gameplay loop of stocking your shelves with products and running the register to sell them and the typical goal of unlocking more products and things to make running your store easier as time goes on, along with the added loop of managing the gas pumps. And being able to play the game with friends makes it an even better time as well. But unlike others of the genre, you also manage the aspects that come with being an alien hiding among humans as you go through each day: making sure to clean up your goop mess to avoid raising too much suspicion, unlocking various alien technology to help make your days easier, and aspects of probing and even abducting customers, among other things. And like a cherry on top, there's a lovely questline being added over time that embraces the unique alien aspect of the game while incorporating the core elements of a game of this genre With a satisfying gameplay loop and the unique aspects that make this game stand out among the many others of its genre, Roadside Research is certainly worth a look whether you wish to play it alone or with friends.
Working as an Illegal Alien I recommend it.
