After having played the game for 19 hours and getting all the achievements, these are my thoughts on 'Retail Company Simulator.' The game is incredibly, and I mean incredibly, grindy. I get it's a simulator game, but it's the same gameplay look over and over and over again. It took 19 hours alone to reach level 25 and I haven't even scratched the surface of what products I can buy and how much I can expand my store.
I bought this before looking into the developer, their follow up games are copycats of this with different products and lazy generative AI slop Steam pages. It's not 'aesthetic' to be lazy with your creations. Retail company isn't bad, it's grindy and repetitive, I don't *mind* it as a game. I'll play to achievements for the sake of my money spent and because I enjoy shop sims on the whole, but I cannot support this developer any further.
This is pretty much the exact same game as [i]TCG Card Shop Simulator,[/i] but with clothes instead of collectibles. While this doesn't exactly redefine the UE sim genre, it's one of the better approaches I've played. Yes, it's grindy. Yes, it's repetitive. But it's also very easy to get lost for several hours without really noticing you've been sucked in, which is what fun games do. I do wish there was more freedom regarding how one progresses, as the current implementation is entirely linear. If I wanted to hire someone else besides or instead of a cashier, that should be my prerogative. Alas, I have to level up a couple more times before I can hire someone who doesn't handle the cash register. Also, the lighting could be improved upon, but that's a nitpick. Overall, it's a good time. Grab it on sale.

This game is way too grindy and very poorly made. A few examples: When you are open or closed, customers still stream towards the store. They just turn around at the open entrance like there's an invisible wall there. Customers and employees constantly walk through solid displays and counters. Although you can hire an employee to stock shelves, you have limited controls over them. So if you wanted to set aside a rack as dump location for excess stock only, for example, you can't. The employee might refill it instead of prioritizing where you want the stock to normally go. You can hire an employee to act as cashier for you. However, if too many customers line up they will complain about the wait. That's fine, but if you notice a queue forming and open a register yourself there's no way to bring the excess customers over, or even get new customers to come to you instead of continuing to join the long line. So you'll get complaints about long lines despite having a register open with no one at it. Almost every upgrade is locked behind leveling up your store instead of just needing enough money. So you'll often find yourself with a lack of space to put new products even though you have more than enough cash to expand the store. You're just not allowed to, probably not for another several real life hours of grinding. This makes the game not just grindy, but extremely repetitive as well. Every day tends to be almost identical since you're not figuring out new displays or what products to sell; you're just restocking the same products on the same shelves as you wait to eventually get enough exp to make any kind of change. I might eventually finish this one up for the rest of the achievements, but not actively. I'm no stranger to a grind, but I'll be watching something on the other monitor when (or if) I play this again. I'd recommend not buying this game at any price, even just for the achievements and trading cards. It's simply not worth it.
