tl;dr: solid core gameplay, strong art design, unbalanced progression. Recommended; be prepared for a little jankiness. A rough-cut hidden gem. I like Ritual! Horde mode/point defense gameplay is hit or miss, but I think the mix of weapons and spells go a long way toward making the basic "shoot the cultists closest to your glowing weak point" loop feel fairly fresh, and there's enough of a story to give some neat context to all the action. And I love a horror western aesthetic, and this definitely delivers. A couple quibbles, and some counterpoints: - Gun variety is good, but some are clearly better: once I had three shotguns, I was set for the rest of the game, with the pump-action being my go-to choice. Same with spells--there are lots of neat-sounding options, but temporary invincibility and landmines carried me through to the end. + That being said, the optional challenges require more varied loadouts, which helps show how and where they shine. Didn't stop my normal triple-shotgun setup, but I did better appreciate crossbows afterwards. - Similarly, a lot of the gear isn't particularly interesting. Sure, incremental improvements help balance out player progression, but once you've unlocked one numerically superior version then you'll never touch the lesser ones. + Weapon- and spell-based gear is an exception, especially fire rate and recoil. It really does make a difference if you favor a particular combination. - Some minor performance/input issues. Loading feels long for the assets displayed; background elements aren't always clear if they'll block your bullets; switching weapons sometimes gave the wrong result and I couldn't tell why. + Aim mode works great, movement's clear and predictable, and when I figured out that your weapons cycle in the same order whether you scroll up or down I started doing a lot better. (Full disclosure: I played mouse-and-keyboard, and so I might've missed out on the auto-aim mechanics, but that's a personal problem rather than a flaw with the game itself.) I'm still grinding out the challenges (and I like that you can get 100% completion by just playing each level twice, as long as you do it well enough) and I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far!

Well, it feels like there's something missing from this game's levels. The story is just there, and I feel like you could easily skip this part. The shooting is well-entrenched, but it's not enough to make the game stand out.

cant read or see the writing, the font is terrible in fact totally unreadable. it automatically plays at the begining but it would make no difference if it didn't because it just is not readable at all & as soon as you start playing the game it wants you to make a choicce about something i think but since i have no idea what because i cant read or see it i cant do it can i because i cant see it. you would think in this day & age they would think about including an easy to read font ^& no i dont have any problem with reading or writing & english is my first & only language. zooming in makes no difference & even my phone camera cant make sense of this font
