A brutal godlike village sim that melds the god game, management, and tower defense genres! Fight off hoards of monsters at night, and expand your village in the day time. Inspired by games like Black and White, Rimworld, and Dwarf Fortress but not quite like any of them.

I'm ecstatic to hear that the single developer is back on track, and I must admit, I've been eagerly awaiting any updates. However, I want to make it clear that I purchased the game as it was, without any expectation of further updates. The fact that the developer continues to improve it is a delightful bonus. As a parent of two daughters on the Spectrum, I find a unique connection with this game, and I sincerely hope that everyone's creative journey takes them where they want to go. After all, we only have one life to live, and it's essential to make the most of it. I've invested 85 hours into this game since I legitimately purchased it, and I must confess, I had well over 85 hours prior to that on a pirated version. But like many gamers who sometimes resort to piracy, I believe in supporting developers whose work I admire. It's a truth known among us gamers: we often end up buying more games than those who have never been pirates. In conclusion, this game has not only provided me with hours of entertainment but also resonated with me on a personal level. I look forward to seeing where the developer takes it next, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others. Cheers

Looking forward to sinking my teeth into this more, it's clearly been made with a tonne of passion. While we're here - I think people need to re-assess what "abondonware" means. This is someone's personal project and they're not asking much for it. They have clearly moved onto new things, be it games or life, at least for the time being. This isn't some grand promise by a major corporation or studio, it's just some dude realising his own vision. They invested over half a decade into the project while it interested them, and then may have moved on as many of us have with our hobbies or interests. Please enjoy their contributions to the medium and try not to be too salty over the fact they may have left it behind. While it would be nice to have an official "this is no longer in dev" announcement - we don't know if that's the case. This person could be taking a break, or may rediscover the project when their life situation changes.

Buen juego, a pesar de continuar con el desarrollo tiene una gran cantidad de contenido de base. Hay que entender que es un único desarrollador y por tanto requiere tiempo sacar actualizaciones.
GG, one of my fav chill not so chill game. Punishing but rewarding.
Rise to Ruins is a cool mixture of different genres including god game, tower defense, RTS, and colony simulator with simple graphics and a lot of interesting systems. Admittedly the UI is a bit awkward, and the game is definitely rough around the edges, but there were enough interesting ideas to keep me entertained for quite a while. The gameplay requires you to build up your colony during the day and fend off attacks at night, and you try to push back against the corruption creeping across the land. Most of your early colonies will probably fail, but as you learn more, every colony will get a little further than the last. I was rather surprised that the corruption is actually like a computer controlled player on the other side of the map, which makes it feel more like an RTS in ways instead of just a tower defense game. There are a lot of ideas in this game that don't always mesh together well, but it is definitely interesting. I think it's worth a look if you enjoy oddball indie games.
This game is so much fun. One of its kind. Its challanging, but soo rewarding! And now with achievments. Get soooo much value for its low price. Thanks Raymond for that awesome game. As a gamedev myself, I would love to work with Devs like Raymond.
C'est laid, carte peu lisible , c'est compliqué (très très), interface hideuse, des dizaines de menus, pas de pause active, ... Jeu pour ingénieurs, je passe mon tour.
Rise to Ruins is a fun city building/base defense/god sim/tower defense games. Pros: - I like the pixel-art style - good use of tooltips - I like how you get to keep your perks when you restart/lose a game, so next time is a bit easier. - large number of maps - challenging and you will need to try repeatedly - but can start on different maps so it isn't repetitive Cons: - the fastest speed can be slow when waiting for villagers to do stuff - you can't do things while paused - challenging and you will need to try repeatedly Overall I would recommend it if you enjoy hard city-building games like dwarf fortress, but way more accessible, and intuitive, and with spells.
