A brutal godlike village sim that melds the god game, management, and tower defense genres! Fight off hoards of monsters at night, and expand your village in the day time. Inspired by games like Black and White, Rimworld, and Dwarf Fortress but not quite like any of them.

Good game sadly abandoned Original Review: This game is brutal, its hard, and merciless. The goal is to fail, but it is rewarding to see just how far one can get before doom. I think this game has a lot of potential. However the slow pace of the development might just be what will kill it. I think this game could spark up once again if some effort was put on Performance and mods. Create a high performant base, and let the community spark up some alternative gamemodes, buildings and maybe even entire game systems. As the game is now it is recommendable. But only to a very niece type of people who enjoys these types of games (Rimworld players) or other brutal sims. The game is enjoyable to pick up once a year for a week then let it cook some more, while playing other titles. For 13,99 euro, this is a steal and the idea of a 1 usd/euro an hour is quickly reached here.

Es fantastico, apenas voy empezando pero cada error crea un camino y un estilo de juego unico, es sorprendente la cantidad de variables que uno se encuentra alrededor de la partida.
Great game, love the concept, alright execution, good original sound track, Dev is committed though. Rise to Ruins is a sort of Tower Defense/Colony sim type experience best summed up. You start, you have a colony centre, there's 10 people and work to be done, most of the social functions happen automatically but you can observe it real time and read the logs (they also react to your godly power which is nice). At first it's not too clear how the jobs section 'truly' functions but it gets easier to balance that when you understand the resource use, most people seem to complain the opposite though. Tower Defense is the other half of this: you need to build towers, upgrade them, maybe get some magic going, defensive golems, and walls. You continue this cycle as your colony space expands onto the map. Once you have enough people you can then migrate to different areas on the world map, there's some different biomes as well, keeps it fresh on a playthrough. (oh yeah there's trash too, heck that guy) Overall completely worth it for the price imo, just that fun game to boot up every now and then and bust too many hours out in one session. There's been updates and roadmaps posted too, always a plus (as of this review)
The underlying game is quite good, but I find its very faffy in a few ways which could probably be fixed or improved in some way in the future, or maybe I am just an idiot. To give a few examples: - When you start off there is a lot to take in, and some buildings say they need another building, but you need to manually go find the building in the various menus and build it, it would be handy if you could click something on the building with the requirement that would automatically bring up the menu to build the other building. - Your range/influence can be cut off by walls, but this can cause some problems when you are trying to create defenses as you may want to wall off one of your towers with a gate to allow access, but if this is near other walls it often just wont build as it says its out of range as the walls have somehow cut off your ability to build there, even if your villagers can access there and you have a great deal more range outside of the walls. - Some mechanics are not entirely clear straight off like you may wonder why you are not getting water even though you have built a water purifier near water, but turns out you need to HARVEST water, and nothing really indicated that on the water buildings. - its unclear how you push back corruption, turns out you just need to build towards it and your buildings push it back. Anyway overall its a good game but every hour or so I will find something annoying and then have to work around it or do something silly to try and achieve what I want, which is why I left this review as its a good game but marred with oddities that just get in the way of having fun at some points.
Really damn fun. Not enough God Games out there and this one is pretty good. Not to mention the meta progression between runs is fun. I'm happy to see this game still gets love from the dev. 70 hours in and still extremely enjoyable, really getting a bang for your buck.
Yea its good. Edit: Never remove any campfires. You will regret it. Edit2: 2 Years and no updates.
This charming little game has been a true pleasure for me to play, and I believe if you are someone that loves colony sims, you will get your money's worth and then some out of it. Although the game might seem simple on the surface, i assure you that the different styles of play are underlying mechanics can have this game be anything from a cosy village builder to a monster horde tower defence RTS, spanning multiple villages. The music and the art have a retro appeal, while the game play is simple and intuitive to learn, ramping with difficulty over time as resource management becomes essential to fight the ever growing enemy forces. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the genre, as not only does it provide more than other similar games released over the years, it will also have you coming back for more with every update, eager to see what new features await... and perhaps do "just one more" [quick] run into another 20+ hr campaign.
One of my favorite games to sit, relax and play when listening to a podcast or book.
