A very simple top-down shooter with a noteworthy premise; you control a turret instead of a mobile character and your job is to bombard and gun down the enemies as they all come to you. The gameplay is simple, yet interesting. There are different weapons, different abilities, and cooldowns that ensure you're not just mindlessly holding the fire button. There's also a leveling choice between "levels" which gives reason to plan for the playthrough. The presentation is interesting in my opinion. The top-down environments, vehicles (including your turret) look like serious scenes from some PlayStation 1/early PS2 - era game, yet the characters you play as are hand-drawn. There is a light plot, but I don't really get it. Some pig guy does something some supernatural entities dislike, and they go after him. How they do that in a turret is anyone's guess. On which note, visually, the star of this game are the playable characters. You can choose three and each has his own abilities. My personal favorite is Halloween; single-handedly these guys - with their art, animation, brief tongue-in-cheek, campy descriptions, and even some unique voice lines - make RIP an interesting thing to see and come back to. On the cheap I recommend it. Worth noting is I've only played the first. I have not even beaten it yet, let alone touch 2 or 3 yet. If you have an interest in hole-in-the-wall homebrew computer games, this could be interesting now and again.
Tower Defense, but you're the only tower. It's super boring, and only runs in 800x600 resolution. The ONLY other option of 1024x768 instantly crashes the game. You can bypass this by opening "steamapps/common/RIP/RIP/config" in notepad and changing the Width & Height to your monitor settings. Although the game not running in 800x600 looks like f*cking sh*t and makes the Tutorial not work... **Note that this will revert back to 800x600 when you close the game so you have to change the values before every playthrough.** I hope the other two games are better... 2/10
The RIP trilogy is definitely a relic of an outdated era of gaming and I'm torn on whether to recommend it. RIP is a series of twin-stick shooters that play like classic flash games. They are not deep, they are not must-play, but they can be fun. RIP 1 is an interesting one, as its a turret based shooter with no movement. It's a perfectly okay experience for what it is, even if I'd only buy it as part of this trilogy. RIP 2 adds movement, but is ultimately a mixed bag of balance that I'd recommend skipping. But RIP 3 is worth a discounted sale price on its own. It's a good combination of interesting weapons, functional level ups, varied maps, big bosses and vehicle stages to break up the sameness. The RIP trilogy is a perfectly fine purchase if you're in the mood for an old school flash-style shooter. But if you're looking for something meatier then you should look elsewhere.
1.3 hrs in this game 10 or so years ago qualify me to state that this is really an exceptionally bad game. Oh wait, it's actually the trilogy ! Back when I got this game, they were sold separately, now you get all 3 of them in one pack, which is an incredible deal. 3 games for the price of 1 ! The only downside you have to accept is, that all 3 of those games are TOTAL GARBAGE ! If you can live with the fact, that you will never want to play those games, consider buying this. If you do intend to play the games you buy (silly you..haha...playing the games you buy...what a concept..), don't buy this, they will scar you for life.
welp i played rip 3 on my childhood and i can say it was quite good i think i beaten it like 5 times about the other 2 games well the thing i dislike about rip 1 is that you are a turret at most times (havent played much of the first one) the second one is good has that less future vibe of the third one tho my favorite thing about rip 3 is just all the chars and their abilities i remember having alot of fun playing with fobos (the robot guy) because of his lasers and rockets anyways the only bad thing i can say about this game is that its meh on modern systems and that after playing for a while it gets boring id prob give it a 7 out of 10
