I played the original Secret of Monkey Island a year after its release. Dial a pirate wheel and all. This game is of the same spirit of the original games. Puzzles aren't bad. Story is pretty fitting. Lots of in jokes which require playing the first games.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

A fantastic send off to a classic series.
Well if you were 80/90s kid then nostalgia will kick in for sure! Great and funny adventure!
Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game
In all seriousness this is an excellent addition to the Monkey Island family. This is it, if you know what is a Monkey Island, then you should buy this game blindly. This is a classic point & click adventure game, where you wander around and solve "puzzles". The puzzle being needing item A combined maybe with item C to bypass problem 2B. You get lots of dialogue too with the usual silliness you expect from a Monkey Island game. Difficulty wise It's much easier than the previous games. There is a casual mode which is excellent for busy people, people who don't want to get bogged down too much, and the hardcore mode which is classic Point & Click difficulty. Unlike Tales of Monkey Island which was an excellent new story in the Monkey Island world with new characters, this game is more of a trip down nostalgic lane. Is it too nostalgic? Maybe, maybe not but at least it's made with love and care. You get to see some of the excellent characters from the previous games and see some iconic locations. The art received lots of criticisms at the beginning but you have to trust the creators, it's actually very beautiful and full of life once animated while playing. You really get used to it and can get immersed with it. You just have to think that it was kind of an interesting gamble (and good one), a weird tradition of making every Monkey Island in a different style. Does this game bring you closure? You must play it to find out, you return because you need to finish your tale, escape from the curse from a revengeful ghost pirate to discover the secret. In conclusion, this is an excellent chapter of the whole Monkey Island saga, made with love for fans and there are a lot of adventure games around, some definitely better than this one but it's a Monkey Island game, it came with high expectations and it delivered. I DEFINITELY do not recommend this one as a stand-alone, even if it's possible thanks to a nice recap in the game. It's much better if you played all the other games, even better if you go to the past, play the games when they came out each, and wait for all the years and play this one, finish it and discover the secret...
This is a fun game that looks and plays wel It is always a joy to revisit the MI universe, I love the whole series and I am so glad the games are continuing to be created. Fun, funny, with good puzzles and great locations. Get it :) my personal gripes are subjective and similar to the Telltale games: Character Art: Dont like- and i think in a few instances it colours how actions and jokes come off. Lechuck VO: While there is no replacement for Earl Boens Lechuck, Lechucks VO would've benefitted from a bit of effort. Ending: Again, subjective, but the ending i got was disappointing and a bit flat to be honest. I felt it replaced the magic and mystery of the MI universe with real-world mundanity. I will be playing again to see if/how that changes.
Verdict: Classic point and click adventure with all its quirks, possitives and negatives. If you are a fan of the genre pick it up immediatelly! + Positives + + Steam achievements (about 12 hours to 100%, 2 playthroughs) + Ron Gilbert + Monkey Island humour is back + A lot of returning characters + Ability to play the game on casual or hard + Hard has some RNG puzzle variations + The soundtrack still kicks ass + It was really nice catching up with Guybrush once again + The trivia questions made me relive some of my favourite Monkey Island memories + Love the fact there was Horse Armour preorder bonus + A lot of references to other media (e.g. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine!) - Negatives – - No Steam trading cards - I was never a fan of the meta endings - Hand crams from Speed Run achievement (finishing the game under 2h) - Several RNG achievements (cards, Cogg Island) +/- Neutral +/- The new graphic style is kinda hit and miss. I was much bigger fan of The Curse of Monkey Island
