Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Brilliant FPS game of the early 2000, has the gritty dark atmosphere of the early shooter games when they shifted to much improved 3D graphics from the likes of Doom, Duke Nukem and Blood etc The chapters and story is good but the end is a bit lack luster due to the fact that the initial cutscene hypes up the main villian all for it to lose relevancy in the final act with just one fight but the rest is good, going through the German war machine and their experiments right out of science fiction with the tone that is set is an example of setting up a dark atmosphere FPS that we RARELY find today, in fact I can't remeber a single game in the last few years that is an fps that has been able to acheive this long lost art, everything is pretty much too sensitized. Worth the money, specially on sale, it costs nothing but peanuts, a fun dive into early 2000 fps games that I remember from my childhood, I am surprised, very surprised that I missed this one as a kid. The game has great tone and still very playable on modern hardware, don't care about tweaking it to run with modern resolutions and fps because that's not worth it, enjoy the original tone and graphics and if you really want to get the modern touch, at the compromise of art style, just get the Real Return to Castle Wolfenstein mode which is available for free on steam and only requires the purchase of this game, it is very well maintained by the community to this day with new patches and update and free DLC too.
