Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator

Picked this game up during the summer sale, and it quickly became my obsession for the past week. I have completed all 18 achievements so far and would love to see more added to the game in the future.

This game was really enjoyable! It really takes me back to the blockbuster era and has nice little easter eggs. The only thing I wish it had: Having a broom to hit the people that throw all the items at me and on the floor.

Molto immersivo e personalizzabile, la quantità di film e attività, come la gestione leggera del negozio e i vari gadget e attrezzature lo rendono leggero, rilassante e anche a tratti stressante, ma non troppo, il focus è più sulla personalizzazione, non su guadagni da foglio excel, e si entra subito nel vivo senza troppi tutorial enormi, poi col tempo si sbloccano cose e dipendenti per servire un pò tutti bello il catalogo film, con edizioni limitate, nuove uscite da mettere in esposizione, eventi speciali nel calendario, ratings, possibilità di acquistare copie "pirata" inserendo codici di un dato film e il rivenditore dietro il negozio che offre titoli particolari con titoli assurdi DIrei che alla fine è una droga, dal demo già capite tutto, è in inglese ma poco cambia nel gioco principale, poi può risultare chill o stressante, alla fine è un job simulator ma non manageriale pesante e questo mi garba molto, per fare un confronto dave the diver seppur bellissimo l'aspetto della gestione totale di centomila meccaniche del ristorante era eccessivo per me, qui è l'opposto ci sono soldi e xp, ma è tutto più casual e anche disordinato. E va bene così, per me. 9/10 perchè un giorno nel negozio se stai alla cassa è abbastanza ripetitivo, o stressante, e il cartello apri o chiudi negozio è manuale, alla fine ti fa guadagnare di più ma non ha senso se poi ci sono orari però bello ho già 10 ore, l'ho preso ieri e sto ancora a metà progressione, sbloccato solo un'area nuova del negozio

Игра - чилл и расслабон. даже после выполнения всех ачивок и задач в игре- я захожу просто почиллить, сама атмосфера игры нереально крутая. С нетерпением жду обновлений.

As one of the better games to come from the massive surge in sims, I rank Retro Rewind a solid 9/10 and would highly recommend it to immersive job sim enthusiasts. Minor quality of life improvements could make it a 10/10. This is very clearly a project made with love for the art, not love for money. The price point is beyond fair for what the game provides, but if you're on a budget, catching it at a discount is entirely possible given how often it goes on sale. The delicate balancing act in creating a modern game with heavy nostalgic value for the modern gamer is a tough one to get right, but Blood Pact managed (and continues to manage) it beautifully. It's evident to me that they anticipated player needs and developed the game around a complete concept. No element or task feels out of place or extra, and with the video game update just around the corner, there's a sense that the devs are actively devoted to fleshing out what the game lacks. It should be mentioned that as an indie studio with only two people, Blood Pact emerged into a genre known for abandoned and formulaic games, and shook it up by giving us a fun, fairly-priced game that feels fresh and properly managed. They should be immensely proud of themselves. I'll be keeping my eye on future projects. FIRST SOME CONS - The game automatically cuts you out of furniture moving mode once you've placed an item. If you want to move multiple items, that means toggling the mode on again and again after each item placed, which gets a little tedious. - No auto-run feature. You have to hold the SHIFT key down to run. - The employee working returns will put returned films in any open spot on any shelf marked for the genre. If you want to organize your genres into sections (old films, good ratings, bad ratings, etc.) this means the employee most likely mix up your organization system. - Monotony is a risk after a certain point. This will likely be resolved with the upcoming video game update. - Very minor visual bugs that are resolved by saving, returning to the main menu, then resuming the save file. THEN SOME PROS - Store Layout / Decoration :: Your store is fun to decorate and plan, and since customers are drawn to decorations and a diverse stock of films, there's actual incentive to keep the place looking Nice and Nineties. -NPC Design :: It's not your typical realistic NPC you're used to seeing in these sims. They're stylized, just like the rest of the game. Since the NPCs and films are the visual elements you'll be interacting with the most, I consider the stylistic design a much-needed breath of fresh air for the simulation genre. - Collectibles :: The amount of collectible items is actually insane: furniture and decoration unlocks, themed sets for each genre of film, holographic / special film boxes, new release merch / standees, and employees. And soon: video games. (In case you can't tell, I'm really excited for this update.) - Customizable Graphics :: Some of these simulators have no business being as graphics-heavy as they are - and even if you try to offset it by lowering the demand on your CPU until the game looks like a baked potato's fever dream, you run the risk of crashes or significant lag. Fortunately, Retro Rewind is a visually pleasant game that doesn't rely on visual realism to remain pleasant. This gives you the benefit of not needing post-processing effects to keep things looking good. Of course, if you want them, they're available on a Low / Medium / High scale. (Some effects have additional scaling options.) - Nostalgia, Not Romanticization :: The very subtle sexual harassment keeps RR from feeling like an over-romanticization of the era. Thankfully, there's no real threat associated with the harassment; it's simply there to remind you that beneath all the vibrant patterns and general sense of pre-internet possibilities, the 1990s still had many flaws. - Anti-Customer Worship :: You play the manager, and while you can absolutely run the place like a tyrant - you really, really don't have to. After hearing the 1990s corporate slogan of "The customer is always right," sometimes it's fun to tell an irate customer that they absolutely must pay the fee for breaking your copy of Rain Woman. It's fun to watch them throw their stuff on the counter and storm off like their money means anything against the 20 other customers waiting in line - most of whom pay their fees without making a mess.

That's like super cringe and weird... I spend at least an hour on the demo. After it, I bought the game cuz it was dope and spend around 2-3h in it. And Steam just started counting today... Whatever, so, I will praise the game, but wanna write something and hope the devs will see it: The game isn't greatly optimized. The demo was kinda better. But it kinda overheats my PC. I can run it on high or even epic... but I am forced to lower it between high and medium just so it doesn't overheat my machine... pls, do something. About the game - yes, it's very addictive. Really love it. The settings are great and the gameplay loop is very fun. I couldn't let it down. After playing the S out of the demo, it was an easy buy. This game is a masterpiece <3

Yes, I do, in fact, get home from work to run my own store and fulfill my childhood fantasy of owning a movie rental store. No, I do not need you to remind me that I am working after doing work; lots of folks have two jobs! Seriously though, this is such a relaxing game that fills me with nostalgic joy; 100% recommend to folks who enjoy the genre!
