Keep mind I have no achievements on this as I played the GFWL version. Red Faction: Guerrilla is a game I have tried over, and over again to get into. Every time, I'd quit soon after the tutorial going "yeah.. its fine but I got other stuff to play. I'll get back around to it." and I never would. So I decided, its finally time to try and beat it. So I downgraded to GFWL as I prefer Xbox achievements to Steam ones, and pressed ahead. After roughly 12 hours of gameplay, I've completed the game and I can easily say its a flawed but great game. The destruction engine is incredible, and I will miss it dearly going to other games. The simple concept of "the door is on the other side of the building, but I have a beefy sledgehammer, and this wall could easily become a door..." is something I will miss being able to do. The gameplay is fun. The destruction elements are addicting but.. the story is bland, the challenges REALLY ramp up in difficulty very quickly, and the game feels a little, undercooked with copy paste side activities, and repetitive tasks. That said, I had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed my time. Is this the best game of 2009? No. Is it worst? Hell no. So what is it? Well.. I'd say its a 7/10. An above average game that struggles in places. It's fun. It's not overly serious, and if you destroying stuff, this IS the game for you.
