Hammer. Bang. Down!
There was NO RED FACTION aka Mason was THE RED FACTION. It was a ruse and a scam to investors back on earth to screw them out of their money. You learn this by several means through the game including several suicide missions virtually impossible to complete such as THE GUNS OF THARSIS. Then is Jenkins the destroy everything nut job who reveals things like the IDF knew where all the safe houses were. Then in a showdown on the mountaintop at the end, the IDF commander appears in a tank screaming at you AND IF YOU CAN MANAGE TO HIDEN AWAY FOR A MINUTE YOU CAN HEAR HIM EXPLAIN HOW HE TRIED TO KILL YOU OH SO MANY TIMES BECAUSE HE WAS POSING AS THE RED FACTION COMMANDER. NOTE = if you look in strange places you will find ORIGINAL RED FACTION including the main laboratory where Parker & EOS killed the mad scientist. AND SPOILER ALERT = YOU CAN ALSO FIND PARKER! Oh yes he is alive and well and PISSED AT EOS. You can prompt him into 10 different dialogs. SPOILER ALERT = this game is NOT OVER WHEN YOU THINK IT IS OVER. There is a special event post game. I was running around with nano tool rebuilding stuff when suddenly a notice comes over the com from Sam = Mason, there is 1 final mission if you choose to take it, then you must track down and kill Jenkins which is HARD. Make sure you end the game driving either the PICKUP TRUCK or the SUV because nothing else will be fast enough. YOU GET A SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT ONLY UNLOCKED AT THE GAME END. Note on the strange side = ORE DEPOSITS = WHEN STEAM TOOK THIS GAME THEY SOMEHOW FAILED TO INCLUDE EVERY ORE DEPOSIT. Of my achievements i'm missing something like 5. I have even obtained google image maps marking every 1 based upon sector but still no go, they simply are not there. ANOTHER THING STEAM CHANGED WAS THE BEACON VEHICLES ? TRANSPORTER MISSIONS - THERE WILL BE 2-3 IMPOSSIBLE TO EARN UNDER THE NEW GAME FORMAT + in the secondary game about Sams life, there will be 1-2 also impossible to gain for the same reasons. But it was LONG. I return there and run around for the hell of it. the hammer is my primary killing tool. I also rebuild things. THIS IS A 1 FULL PLAY THROUGH GAME, unlike RED FACTION ORIGINAL that I have played through maybe 100 times. ENJOY!

I used to play red faction as a kid, so everything about this game is pure nostalgia and awesome destruction. I remember spending hours leveling buildings with my sledgehammer, just because I could, most of the time they weren't even owned by the EDF, I didn't care. There's something so unique and original about games of this generation, they truly don't make games like these anymore, where it's all about the story, no DLCs, no add-ons, just a pure, super fun gaming experience.
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate infinite respawning enemies. You clear out a horde of enemies and are on the brink of infiltrating a base and then 10 enemies roll up behind you and shoot you from behind. On top of that, if you try to be smart and go into the base from anywhere other than the main gate, there's an invisible wall blocking you off. ♥♥♥♥ this game.
Great game. Very fun and ages well. Using DX9 mode running through Wined3d (use start command "PROTON_USE_WINED3D %command%" in settings). Runs with slight lag on a ThinkPad T520 with an i7-2640m w/ iGPU only using Mint + Openbox. Will Test on Debian + Openbox shortly.

I did NOT enjoy my time with this game. The missions were boring and basic where usualy the developers would throw 1000 explosive-mounted cars with the enemies being absolute bullet sponges. It was unfun to play the missions themselves.
Vehicles cannot be upgraded, they varies only in stats, but not functions, buy this only on sale
Red Faction: Guerrilla is a surprisingly fun shooter with an amazing story and satisfying destruction mechanics. Unfortunately, it feels very outdated by today's standards. I recommend it only to longtime fans of the series. If you're new to the franchise, there are much better modern alternatives. Not recommended for most players.
Story is dull, but you are not playing this for the story. Peak destruction :)
