Still one of the best zombie apocalypse city-builder. Played it a lot in the browser and it is still good as a standalone game. The gameplay loop is really nice. The best part is surely the worldbuilding - the factions are so unique and fun! Lord of the flies / Peter pan style society of school boys, catholic parish turned into bike riders, pro-zombie religious cult. My only criticism, both then and today, are the jumpscares in the last mission of the campaign. It is not anything game-breaking, you quickly get used to them, but seeing it for the first time after completing almost the whole campaign can be distressing.

I'd recommend it for 20 hours. If the price you are asked to pay is worth it to you for 20 hours of good game play, do it. But after 20 hours, for me, it started feeling extremely repetitive and there was no game dynamic I did not have fully mastered. I've not yet finished story mode, but each level feels pretty much the same they just get bigger and take more time, but require no new techniques, insights or strategies. It's OK.

I love this game, and hope there will someday be a 4!
It was really nice, I love this game.. The gameplay is pretty nice, you are in a town that you can generate in quick play, or the one from Story Mode where you go through preset cities to find a cure for the zombie infections.. You can also set difficulties for the city that you are in too, from easy to impossible difficulty. There's alot of factions with interesting stuff too, some of them are neutral, but some are hostile.. You can try to make alliance with them or drive them out of the city. These factions also have their own story which you can choose to do. Some of them will fight against each other, or even ask you to go to a war against another faction. You can also do research to increase your survival abilities, city defense, and trying to get more survivors into your city. You can even research craftable items that can be used to lure zombies, kill zombies with traps, explosives, medkits, and even fireworks for your survivors. Random event can happen during the gameplay, and based on the stats of your survivors it will give you different effects, and sometimes it ends in a life or death situation. The interesting part is, you can carry over characters from the previous city to the new city (even more with the politician trait) and you can improve their stats even more. Honestly still a great game and I enjoy playing it, the challenges are neat and the achievements are fun to get (except the 100k zombie kills)
Put this game down years ago and only recently picked it back up to finish it. For what it's worth it is still pretty fun and enjoyable, though I will admit it does tend to get repetitive after awhile.
