Railroader

This game is good. My friend bought me this game a while ago and it's some of the best fun I've had. The steam sim is also relatively accurate which makes for an enjoyable running experience. There's also a large modding community if the base game is a little too vanilla for you. It is early access however, and updates are slow, so if constant updates are your thing, this might not be for you.

Having Bought it 3 Days ago. So far so Good it's a Real Just one more Thing Game.

It is very unity feeling, world wise (trees, terrain LOD, lighting), so don't expect any "unique flavour" to the style, although they did apparently recreate an old line from awhile ago, so there is rhyme to the map layout. Also the performance needs an overhaul, seriously gotta figure out a better solution than lower the LOD on more things, cause the world looks so barren without the tree's, or it really takes away from being "in the game" when the tree's appear within a 100', however that doesn't take away the attention to details and potential to expand even further upon the realism. Definitely my go-to train game when I want something that makes me think, but not heavy on the pacing or reflexes. Nice to just go at my own pace, running a few trains hopping around and using the auto-engineer.

I greatly enjoy railroader for its logistics, not its sim. If you are looking for a sim railroader is not an ideal option, but if you want to manage the logistics like no other game, railroader is the best for it.

I've played for over 500 hours unmoded. I enjoy the complexity of the game and the problem solving challenge to it. The pace is as fast as you want it to be. I've nearly completed all of the milestones - currently working on the last one. I've been going slow and deliberate. Hopefully they'll continue to expand the game to add additional locomotives, car types, etc. and maybe allow time periods E.G. steam, early diesel, modern, etc. Likely at some point I'll add mods as the community has developed several that look interesting. I just opened up the entire line and loving the challenges of running trains over it with both interchanges working. Scheduling passenger trains was sort of a PIA and there could be come improvements with the A.I. logic, but it's still enjoyable. Wish the sidings were selectable on the map or some way to jump to those locations (there might be - I just haven't found it yet). Currently I go to the closest town and then scroll to get to the siding I'm looking for. Overall, still a great game.

Railroader is, at the current moment, the best train game on the market. Running the railroad and getting everything in the proper sidings, just feels right. if you have ADHD of any kind, this game is for you. The mods also make it spectacular, with many customization options, and a horde of new options. So what are you standing around here for? Get in the cab of No.2 and start your journey.
