About
R.U.S.E. is back in its Definitive Edition, including all DLCs and Steam Deck support.
R.U.S.E. is a uniquely distinctive real-time strategy game where bluffing become your most powerful weapons to lead your nation to victory. Immerse yourself in World War II with the exclusive IRISZOOM® engine, which gives you an unparalleled view of the battlefield, from close-up inspection of individual units to a bird's-eye overview reminiscent of board gaming.
In R.U.S.E., every battle is a battle of wits and perception. Deploy RUSE cards to deceive your enemy, camouflage your troops, deploy decoys, or spy on your opponents.
RUSE becomes a central gameplay element, delivering unprecedented strategic depth.
Campaign: Embody Major Joe Sheridan in an immersive adventure spanning from the deserts of North Africa to the plains of Western Europe. Each mission combines strategy, storytelling, and thrilling plot twists.
Operations: Take on independent tactical challenges designed to test your skills in extreme situations.
Skirmish vs. AI: Customize your matches to hone your skills or enjoy fast-paced, intense battles against reactive and versatile artificial intelligence.
R.U.S.E. features 2 to 8-player matches on varied, customizable maps faithfully inspired by World War II theaters of operations. Choose your map, game mode, and player distribution (teams or free-for-all).
Available Game Modes
Classic Mode: All units available from the start, depending on your chosen era (1939, 1942, or 1945).
Total War: A progressive three-phase mode (1939, 1942, 1945) where new bases and units unlock at each stage.
Nuclear Mode: The race for the atomic bomb, the first to produce and deploy nuclear artillery wins the match.
Ranked Mode: Face strategists from around the world and climb the global leaderboard.
Victory Conditions
Victory is achieved by either destroying all enemy bases and units or accumulating more points than your opponent by the end of the time limit. You earn points for every enemy unit destroyed, rewarding tactical gameplay and daring maneuvers.
Bluffing lies at the heart of the strategic experience. RUSE are special cards you can activate at any moment to influence enemy perception, reinforce your troops, or gain crucial intelligence. They provide unprecedented gameplay depth, transforming every engagement into a duel of wits and bluff.
RUSE cards are divided into four major categories:
Reveal Information (decryption, espionage)
Conceal Information (radio silence, camouflage)
Create Decoys (dummy units, false offensives)
Alter Unit Behavior (blitz, terror)
By combining these cards, you'll orchestrate complex strategies and turn the tide of battle.
In R.U.S.E, each faction embodies a great power of World War II, bringing its own units, specificities, and playstyles. Choosing a faction means adopting a different strategic approach, tailored to your preferences and personality as a strategist.
United States: Versatility and industrial might.
Germany: Quality and firepower.
France: Resilience and defense.
United Kingdom: Air power and artillery.
USSR: Quantity and durability.
Italy: Speed and mobility.

R.U.S.E.: An intense strategic experience where RUSE and adaptation make the difference.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

RETURN OF THE KING; After all these years… R.U.S.E. is finally back on Steam, and honestly, this feels like a dream come true for RTS fans. This game has been gone far too long, and seeing it available again feels like the return of a true legend of the genre. Few RTS games have ever captured the same scale, intensity, and pure tactical brilliance that R.U.S.E. delivered. Even today, the gameplay still feels unique and refreshing. The deception mechanics, fake armies, hidden troop movements, and mind games create battles that feel like actual warfare instead of just throwing units at each other. Every match becomes a tense chess game where outsmarting your opponent matters just as much as raw army strength. The zoom system remains one of the coolest features ever made in an RTS, seamlessly pulling you from a massive battlefield overview right down into the chaos of tanks, infantry, and artillery clashes. The visuals and map design still hold up incredibly well, especially for a game of its age. There’s a cinematic feel to every battle, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the tension and scale of war. You can genuinely feel the passion and effort that went into making this game. R.U.S.E. wasn’t just another RTS release — it was one of the pinnacles of the genre and still stands as one of the greatest strategy games ever made. That said, there’s one major issue that sadly hasn’t changed over the years: the multiplayer community. While it’s amazing to see people playing again, the matchmaking can still be incredibly frustrating. High-level players constantly kicking newer or casual players from lobbies is still a huge problem, and the endless infantry rush strategies that end games in five minutes completely kill the fun and strategic depth the game is famous for. It defeats the entire purpose of what makes R.U.S.E. special — the long tactical battles, deception, and battlefield mind games. Instead, too many matches turn into rushed, toxic stomp-fests before they even properly begin. Even with those frustrations, I’m just beyond happy this masterpiece is finally available again. R.U.S.E. deserves to be remembered, played, and celebrated. For RTS fans, this is more than just a rerelease — it’s the return of a legend.
Obviously this is a good game. No need to bring up the bazillion reviews. But I purchased it just because Ubisoft is a company owned by dbags and I am glad they no longer own this game. Just a bonus that this game is also fun to play. One of those rare win win situations.
just as good as the day it came out
getting back into ruse multiplayer is still a bunch of fun all be it sweaty sometimes. campaign still helps you learn a lot while telling a decent story.
If you like RTS, Just try & buy :)
Very awesome if you've got an egregious amount of time to kill and put your mind to controlling people
