Fun, until it isn't. The game has a bit of a steep learning curve as everything is interconnected. The issue is, the tenants have NO patience with you at all, and something as simple as replacing an electrical panel can destroy your entire tower in seconds. If the tenants did not move out at the drop of a hat, and if you did not have to pay to replace them, then perhaps the game would be enjoyable. As it stands, the game will brutally punish you for any tiny reason. Happiest tenants you ever had? Well your electrical panel shorted out for 5 minutes so now they are mad and moved out. Game is brutally unfun. Have had this for a long time because for the longest time I could not even play the game as when I got it originally it didn't even work because of graphical issues. Now that those issues were fixed, figured I would give it a go again. As someone who plays almost exclusively sim and management games, give this one a pass.

Project Highrise is essentially a Sim Tower remake from the 1990’s, albeit rebuilt for new generation of computer hardware. Seeing as Maxis, the developers of the original Sim Tower/Sim City were dissolved after being bought out by EA, this left a creative gap to be filled in the genre, of which Project Highrise succeeds, further building upon its historic predecessor Sim Tower. I can tell that this is a true passion project by the new developers SomaSim, with full mod support allowing for multiple play-through scenarios. If you enjoy city builders, this game is a must have. This lil-niche tower management game will compliment your city building itch on a micro scale, with pleasant background music when you just want to zone out after a hard day. I would also recommend the Las Vegas DLC for hotels and casinos and the London/Berlin DLC for better offices, as they add extra depth while furthering the replayability of Project Highrise, without requiring as many workshop mods.
there are broken mechanics in the game that have not been fixed that make the game too frustrating to enjoy
Project Highrise: Skip or Smash?

Gameplay
"A delightful sandbox for someone with a penchant for micromanagement and a masochistic streak." The gameplay itself is a tedious slog, with the excitement of watching grass grow, except less visually appealing. It's like someone took the most boring parts of real estate management and turned it into a game that's somehow less fun than the real thing. The depth is as shallow as a kiddie pool, and the complexity is... well, let's just say if you're looking for a challenge, you might find more in a game of Tic-Tac-Toe with a toddler.

Game's purpose
"A cautionary tale of the banality of the modern world wrapped in the shiny packaging of a broken dream." You're supposed to build a towering empire, but instead, you're stuck in a never-ending cycle of fixing leaks and managing virtual complaints. It's like being a janitor in a building that's perpetually under construction. The purpose of the game is as clear as a foggy day in London, leaving you to wonder if the developers had any vision beyond "let's make it like that other game but slightly different." Perhaps the true purpose is to test the limits of one's patience and sanity. In that, it excels more than any other game.

Originality
"The age-old tale of the unoriginal." It seems 'Project Highrise' took inspiration from the classic 'SimTower' and decided to give it a fresh coat of paint, but forgot to add any new coats of substance. It's like watching a cover band that can't decide whether they're tribute artists or just a sad echo of the original's grandeur. The game tries to stand tall, but it's like a child wearing their parent's oversized shoes, stumbling along with no sense of rhythm or style. Don't go in expecting a masterpiece, darling. You'll be disappointed.

AI's Pathfinding
"The pièce de résistance of 'Project Highrise's' comedic incompetence." The only thing more frustrating than trying to manage these digital dunces is watching them try to figure out how to use the stairs when the elevator's out of order. It's a never-ending cycle of 'Oh, the humanity!' and 'Why can't you just walk over there?!'

The Graphics
"While not offensive to the eyes, are about as inspiring as a spreadsheet." If you're into a retro aesthetic that screams "I'm trying to look modern by being outdated on purpose!" then you might find some charm in the game's pixelated façade. It's like watching a TV show from the 90s and thinking, "Wow, we thought this was amazing?" But alas, in the world of Project Highrise, style and substance are like oil and water – they just don't mix. You're left with a game that looks like it was designed by someone who thinks 'vintage' means 'hasn't been updated since the dawn of time. 'The only thing that'll make your eyes pop out of your head is the sheer amount of time you'll spend staring at the screen in disbelief that you're still playing.'

Soundtrack
"A symphony of mediocrity." It's like someone took the elevator music from a 90s office building and decided it was the perfect score for a game about building your own skyscraper. The background tunes are the kind of thing you'd expect to hear in an elevator in purgatory – endlessly looping, never changing, and just interesting enough to keep you from smashing the 'STOP' button with your fist. The melodies are so repetitive that you'll find yourself humming them in your sleep, haunting you like the ghost of deadlines past. It's the kind of soundtrack that's supposed to be relaxing, but instead, it's about as soothing as a jackhammer serenading a headache. After hours of listening to the same MIDI tunes, you'll be longing for the sweet embrace of silence, or at the very least, the option to blast your favorite death metal track to drown out the auditory torture. It's a miracle that the game doesn't come with a complimentary bottle of aspirin. But hey, if you enjoy the kind of music that makes you question your sanity and the meaning of life, then Project Highrise is your ticket to an existential crisis wrapped in a shiny, pixelated bow. Just don't say I didn't warn you when you find yourself humming 'Elevator Music from Hell' in the shower.

Customer Service and After-Sales Care
"Customer Service? After-Sales Care? In Project Highrise? Darling, that's a mythical concept." The developers are about as attentive to your needs as a cat watching a tennis match. You're on your own, my friend. The game's community is more of a ghost town than a bustling metropolis. You're more likely to get help from a mime than the game's official forums. And the patches? Oh, the patches. They come about as frequently as a blue moon, and when they do arrive, it's like watching a clown car at a circus. You expect one thing, and out comes a parade of issues you didn't even know you had.

Crashes
"The game crashes more often than a teenager's first car." You're building your tower of dreams, and suddenly, it's all gone in a puff of digital smoke, like a building imploding in a Hollywood blockbuster. But fear not, because with each crash comes the thrill of the unknown. Will your files get corrupted? Or will your game broke down? It's like playing Russian roulette with your progress. If you enjoy the thrill of the unexpected and the excitement of losing hours of hard work in a heartbeat, Project Highrise will surely keep your adrenaline pumping. Just remember to save often, or you'll be weeping over your keyboard like a poet whose muse has abandoned them for a life of reality TV.
I love this game. It takes me back to the days of sim tower. A great tower building simulation here
This would be better if you could speed up the simulation portion a lot more. A considerable portion of your game play is spent just waiting for the next 24 hours so you can get paid again. Ends up becoming pretty tedious.
I grew up playing Sim Tower and Yoot Tower. This mostly scratches that itch. There are a few things from those titles I miss, though. In this game, the elevators are just... there. And the restrooms are non-existent. Where do people use the toilet after their morning coffee? I also am not fond of how the transport items take up tiles, rather than sitting in front of the tenants, like in the other games. Oh, and I miss having random events and disasters hit the building. I always had fun trying to fight fires or find terrorist bombs in Yoot Tower. Nonetheless, I am enjoying this game.
