PROHIBEAST

Original: 1.0.1 | 7hrs It's not really a "not recommend", but rather, wait until more bugs have been fixed and optimizations have been made. Comparing it to the gold standard (MImimi games), Prohibeast is slow and buggy. It takes 15 seconds to save, and loading a save is slow. This makes it difficult to experiment the gameplay, which goes against what they are promoting in the trailer. The framerate is also bad. I'm only getting 45 fps on my system. Sometimes the commands get canceled out of nowhere. There's also the issue where I got trapped in gunfire (right after a cutscene) after getting the dynamite in the warehouse. All enemy AI inside the warehouse was suppose to be down already. I always assume there's an enemy AI reset after a cutscene, so this was an annoying surprise. Combining all of these elements, the game is difficult to play and I cannot command the characters as tightly as I want it. Edit 1: v1.0.1 | 13hrs I tried using a different PC with a laptop version of RTX 3070 and it provided better performance... but it doesn't have cloud saves?!!! Why don't you have cloud saves? Edit 2: v1.0.3 | 23hrs I got stuck (game breaking bug). On the map where I have to save civilians (four sets of them) plus taking down a sniper on a building, two of the civilian sets (near the railway and near the sniper building) don't get flagged as complete, making the map impossible to complete. I have tried reloading to a state just before clearing all enemies to take them down again but the civilians don't move (they don't get flagged as complete). Also on the same map, the ragdoll was so violent after a restoring a quick save that one of them flew to a place where it was now seen by an enemy AI. Fortunately this has a temporary fix by exiting to the menu and reloading the quick save. The mini map enemy dots appear on the center of the screen (not inside the mini map on the lower right corner). Also, selecting "confirm" on a different profile slot erases the quick saves of a profile that have them even if I don't start a game with that different profile. WHAT?!!! It turns out that save files are very big. My saves for version 1.0.0 are larger than 600MB and version 1.0.2 are larger 300MB. Commands still get canceled. For example, in quick succession, command character 1 to drop object on a spot, then command character 2 to drop object on a spot. Character 1 will move to the commanded spot but will not drop object, but character 2 will complete the intended command. I still cannot recommend the game, but more strongly this time because of the game breaking bug. The game cannot be completed in its current state. Edit 3: v1.0.4 | 32hr Less bugs now. At least it is possible to finish the game with this version. I'll give it a final grade of MEH. Some of the bad parts of the game are: - low, unoptimized framerate (typically 35 FPS) - canceled actions (e.g. user must not command characters in quick succession) - unregistered actions (e.g. if you press a skill command without executing, commanding a crouch will not cancel crouch the character) - incomplete tutorial (e.g. Tina's pocket watch has a range circle even though it is also a visual bait and could therefore work long range... I thought at first the range was extremely short and the skill was worthless. Tina's punch became a violent ragdoll machine. On the elevated catwalk on the final map, my Tina punch an enemy off the catwalk and into the tracks which was interpreted as out of bounds. When the enemy AI woke up, the AI teleported near some of the player characters on the lower level and set off the alarm. I hope I can play a version of this game that runs well in the future... with vocals that match the subtitle.
