For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

Would be a great demo or early access game but as a full release this is not great. You can tell love and effort went into it but I finished a playthough in 40 minutes and I wasn't even rushing. About 10 of those were just walking trying to find people in the castle too. Aside from the length, a lot of the dialogue feels forced and unnatural. Due to how short it is we can't really get to bond with any of the characters. There's a point where a character may kill themselves based on your actions and your guy feels terrible but the character had like 6 lines of dialogue so it is hard to feel anything at all. Aside from that, around half of all problems just have a moral choice and a "greater good" choice with pretty much no nuance beyond that. Great idea, pretty mid execution unfortunately.
Pitchforks and Daggers is a great example of what good writing and branching storylines can bring you, there's moments where the game, in it's own way will shine a light on the choice you've made and make you wonder if that was even the right choice, but in most cases, there are no right choices. I'm a huge fan of the genre and having a narrative focused take is awesome to see. No need to worry about resources or mini games, all you have to do is simply rule the kingdom. Easier said than done though. Full Review: https://www.gudshiz.com/review/pitchforks-and-daggers-review-long-may-the-king-reign/

Quite short, but it's designed to make you replay your choices and there's a good spread of outcomes. With that in mind it really should be easier to skip through all the walking and animations, when you're just speed-running one different choice.
Really enjoyed it. I can see myself making multiple play throughs.
Pitchforks and Daggers is a very nice indie story game that challenges the player with kingdom-related dilemma such as choosing a happy populace, or a thriving and safe kingdom. The choices you have to make are tough, and in many cases I felt like it was a true dilemma, with no "correct" choices which is great in my opinion. A single-run playthrough took me about 2 hours, and after finishing the game you are presented with a "Load Game" option that allows you to jump back into major events in the story and choose a different path, which adds playtime and gives more life to the story. The story as a whole was well written, and many of the choices you have to make have real impact on the rest of your playthrough. But as with any Indie game made by a small team it's not going to be polished like some triple-A titles. Notably I felt like a lot of information was provided to the player and it was hard to keep track of the different characters, kingdoms and relationships, so I kept a notepad handy to write down some important stuff. All-in-all I think it's a cute game, reasonably priced and enjoyable with a very detailed story that has a lot of attention to detail.
A full playthrough was about 45 minutes though it looks like you can make fatal choices along the way which is a bit short but replayability seems to be the focal point. It's not very complex for scenes since 1-2 folks give advice before you make a choice. It still was enjoyable and I'd consider it worth playing again to see different outcomes.
Great game! I really liked the story.
Excellent premise, great execution. It's a fun little choices-matter kind of a game, where every run takes about an hour, and you can replay and pick other choices to see how things change. - Choices do matter, events change significantly - Story is good, characters have their own distinct character and role play is consistent. - Fun, short experience. (~1hr for a full story arc) that doesn't overstay its welcome. - You get to upset the pope. Kinda resembles historical events. I feel like the best comparison would be game of thrones of sorts, where you pick what happens. Recommended!
I liked it very much. I played twice and had a completely different story.
Really enjoyed this. Plays like a choose your own adventure book. Writing is decent too and the decisions are tough!
