Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Sep 14 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The 2.0 update is extensive, transforming nearly every aspect of the game, but the highlights include:
Fully realized pilots – Recruit pilots with over 100 unique pilot traits and abilities which allow for in-depth buildcrafting and synergies with your mechs. With a new recruitment and class specialization system, expansive leveling with varied progression trees, combined with new visual customisation options, you can build your own flavor of deadly (and stylish) ace pilots.
A reworked campaign – New maps, new quests, and new combat scenarios along with fully rebalanced factions ensure you face varied squads with different equipment, armour and unit configurations. You have even more reason to collect new equipment and experiment with different loadouts to take on these new threats.
Completely reimagined overworld – Explore new provinces, varied landscapes and overhauled campaign systems. New liberation and overworld mechanics, new points of interest and events, new province modifiers and improved mission generation provide a varied, constantly evolving environment to encourage players to adapt and overcome.

Phantom Brigade is a cinematic, tactical mech strategy game with an innovative timeline-based command system. See the future, predict enemy actions, and plot your counterattack on the timeline! Recruit and level up your squad of rebels to retake war-torn Fyrland from the Kaskad occupation.
Cinematic spin on the turn-based genre – Predict enemy movements, orchestrate precisely timed countermeasures, and hit “execute” to watch the physics-based action unfold in real time.
Extensive customization – Featuring a rich customization system, Phantom Brigade enables you to fine-tune the performance of your mechs, install a wide selection of equipment, and access a wealth of cosmetic options. Prepare your squad for any challenge - in style.
An expansive arsenal – Railguns, beam weapons, missiles, energy swords, and more! Rain destruction down upon your homeland’s invaders with weaponry salvaged from each enemy mech you defeat.
Strategic tactical combat – Make high-level tactical decisions on the world map, manage your mobile base, and decide how to apply your limited resources. Take command of your squad in varied missions ranging from sabotage of enemy equipment and convoy ambushes to liberation battles and challenging outpost onslaughts.
Destructible environments – It's not a proper game about giant mechs without destructible buildings! Phantom Brigade allows every square meter of each battle map to be destroyed. Shatter your enemy’s cover and collapse buildings on top of them!

It's GREAT. As others have said, the tactical gameplay is AMAZING. The whole timeline/prediction system is very solid, works wonderfully, fullfill our desires of problem solving and hit you with loads of dopamine when your carefully crafted plan plays out perfectly. (It's actually my dream system - I've been wanted to create a highly similar system I call plan-then-bang, for years, but my procrastination and laziness always win...) The game reminds me of BattleMech, though for me this is much more enjoyable as the tactical gameplay is too good, even though there's not much in out-of-combat gameplay (strategy layer). Anyway, make sure not miss out this title if you enjoy gameplay involving problem solving, mechs, plan-mode, etc.
Terrible terrible performance.
I got this on sale after 2.0 released, so I wasn't aware what changed, but after now finishing a run (on normal difficulty), I just have to say this game is great, but it could be so much more. The X-Com 2 inspiration is clearly there, reclaiming an overtaken world through a series of tactical skirmishes, but in Phantom Brigades case in awesome mechs.
Short review
The combat gameplay - fantastic, 9/10 Story - 2/10 an outline of a story exists, but its not expanded upon at all Overworld gameplay/Menuing - 6/10 its functional, it has some cool features, but also lacking in parts. Sound design easily 9/10
Long review
Phantom brigades gameplay is super engaging, pushes you to find ways to outmaneaver or power through, almost never feels completly trivial or completely impossible. Weapons are fun, and its really easy to see what everyone can do, and even if something goes wrong it does rarely feel unfair. And while it's a bit overwhelming at first, you'll get used to it super quickly. It has some quirks youll learn figure out through playing, like a safe use of missiles, and the hit-scan of melee weapons. While I clearly enjoyed this game and will continue to put hours into it, you can really tell there was a shift of design for 2.0, even if you never played 1.0. Some menus feel retroactively expanded upon, and while thats great, some issues remain. Its hard to gauge what an item is at a glance, or how many you have, since there are no icons for most armors and equipped armors are not displayed in the inventory. The workshop wants you to dismantle a certain amount of items to be able to build them yourself, so you have to go back to the mech bay to check. If you want to use a different torso for your mech, you have to unequipp all modules like reactor manually, if you want to use it for the new torso too. (would love if the reactor/booster was its own equip slot on the mech instead of part of the torso). And while I absolutely love the pilot system as someone that loves customizing my troops, as someone that even thinks the skills are good (though some tooltips should really specify what they do to decide if theire worth it, like frost giant), and even think the prestige system is a very interesting, that gives a lot of decisions to make - the way a mech progresses is just - well, not really existant. Its just equipment that can be swapped over to another mech without any cost, penalty or (ingame) time investment. There is no real penalty for a mech dying, as atleast on normal difficulty, you can always reclaim all parts and I had another mech that could just replace it, without losing any functionality. Which encourages a lot of equipment swapping between combats to always bring a healthy mech, which in turn is just tedious extra work. you don't have to, of course, but you put yourself at a disadvantage if you dont. Make them distinct somehow, like the reactor being part of it at creation and cant be changed or some other way, please Furthermore, the overworld map feels... unexiting, sadly. there are few different mission types, and a couple different maps. Ive seen non-story maps atleast twice on my run. I'm not expecting that every game needs a generative map system like x-com, but thought id let you know. And then, I've found no lose condition, which ties into my last point: The story leaves a lot to be desired - after checking other reviews and patchnotes, a lot from 1.0 seems to have been removed, which I can understand if thats the direction the game needs to go, but its replacement has been... not there? From the codex you learn why the neighbouring oligarchy invaded you, but other than that its... just nothing? How could they have won so easily? What have they been doing the three years since they invaded? They came for the meteorite minerals, but don't really seem to do anything with them? What about neighbouring countries? I really liked having a recurring named enemy pilot show up, but why was it the only one?? And spoiler for the end of the game:
Why wasnt there ever a face put to the enemy forces leaders? Blowing up a tower in your own capital being the final, triumphant blow leaves me scratching my head as to what I've actually accomplished here.
This review might have sounded very negative, but thats because it has grown very dear to me, and I want to see it thrive. BYG devs, you've done an amazing job, and I hope to see what else you have in store for us!
i had more fun then expected thats for shere paronly it ezay to play even if ur skip the totorel sorry for my english i am not good with it intermes of spelling
As I am writing this review I still don't know whether to recommend this game or not. Yep, this is one of those “I wish there was neutral vote button” games. To help you make up your mind here’s my grumpy take on this. Visuals and art style are great, core tactical gameplay is smooth and good, weapon variations are good, pilot prestige progression is a good idea and overall this is probably the only mech tactical TBS there. However, fights do become tedious as you progress, mech customisation becomes a chore due to menu limitations, from mid game strategic map missions become boring and repetitive, base upgrades and some of the crafting mechanics are questionable and abit illogical within the premise of the game world and the story feels like cheap AI clone of AI clone of a prompt for a script written by a toddler, so much so that you don’t care for the world around you and ultimately drift off to other games. So, having considered all of the above I can’t really recommend this game, even through I would score it as solid 6.5 purely due to tactical gameplay and art style. One Grumpy Russian score 6.5/10 – Okish tactical TBS that will have its audience, but the strategic map and the story are a big letdown. Would only buy on sale. For more reviews and game recommendations follow me as a curator at One Grumpy Russian
Very unique and fun game desing also most beautiful UI I ever seen in a video game.
Innovative, stylish, deep and engaging. The 2.0 update was a nice gift and improves the flow of the game a bunch. A few visual bugs though :)
