Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Aug 10 → 5.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
From Obsidian, this game is a historical narrative-driven game focusing on character development, heavily stylized art, and choice-driven storytelling in early 16th century Bavaria. Players will play as Andreas Maler, a clever illustrator caught up in a series of murders in Tassing and Kiersau Abbey over the course of twenty five years. Players will be responsible for conducting their own investigation to decide the fate of the community, but each decision will have lasting consequences and inexorably draws Andreas closer to the center of an underlying conspiracy.
Experience 16th century Europe as the master artists of the time saw them. Art inspired by great illuminated manuscripts and the earliest printed books becomes a living, breathing world in Pentiment.
Choose different academic and social backgrounds and meet a colorful cast of characters as you discover the stories and secrets that lie within the small Bavarian town of Tassing and nearby Keirsau Abbey.
In an era of great religious and political change, each decision you make can have a profound impact on the community’s future. Find your own way through this turbulent time and see the consequences of your choices play out over generations.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Pentiment Review I want to be clear that this is an experience offered in a way that is wholly original and novel in how it delivers player interaction and story, but I don't consider it a game the way I would an action game or even a detective game for that matter. It's a multi-branching visual novel if you had to try to pin a description on it, but even then I find that it doesn't fit it so well, so instead I'll try to describe it by what I feel it tries to do. I feel that Pentiment's goal is to engage the player as one would be engaged in something akin to a zoned-in history book about a specific place during a specific time period. You can breeze through the game without really doing anything related to skill or care and enjoy a good contained story (Or be bored by it like a school history book); but the best parts of Pentiment are spent putting your nose into every nook and cranny of conversation and situations you can get yourself into in order to find clues (No spoilers here) or to learn about the context of the game's setting. When you give it the attention it deserves, you'll find that Pentiment brings a dusty old tale about a dustier old village with the dustiest old peasants to life when you look at every head note or subparagraph about the narrative. Indeed, it's incredibly rewarding when you treat it with passionate attention, I'm sure it's more so a great experience for history nuts (Though I feel the obscure setting was chosen deliberately in part to introduce any player to something new.). I'm split between saying it's not for everyone and that it's something you need to play regardless of if you'd enjoy it; I get that reading isn't our collective hobby as a community of gamers, but equally I feel that if you're competent enough to boot up a game and learn how to master it, then you need to work towards being the kind of person Pentiment is for. Like any book, Pentiment isn't perfect, you'll see those cracks or worldviews that oppose your own and make you uncomfortable, I promise, but I absolutely recommend it for anyone under any context or situation for it to challenge you in those imperfections.
masterpiece
I can't say that the narrative experience of Pentiment is "good for a video game," because that's selling it way, way short. This is not a simplified, archetypal fable that makes serviceable garnish for fun game mechanics. And I can't say that the narrative experience of Pentiment is "as good as any great novel" because that, too, is selling Pentiment way short. This is not a well-written story with some light interactivity sprinkled along the margins. No, Pentiment is a narrative experience that needed to be, that could only be, delivered in an interactive medium. The themes of guilt, regret, and redemption could only resonate so strongly when experienced in the first person as a result of choices you actually made yourself. The many well-researched details that make Pentiment's world feel so specific and lived-in are not just historical trivia, but the myriad pieces of context informing brutally difficult decisions that you, the player, have to make. Pentiment asks how we construct history, how we define justice, how we maintain community, how we can bear the weight of regret. It asks these questions in interesting ways in a setting that feels rich and alive, giving you a privileged perspective into one small community progressing (and regressing!) over time. It's going to feel, at times, like a lighthearted adventure game. And then it's suddenly going to feel very different. After the credits roll, some of its most vivid moments are going to linger in your memory for years to come.
Almost a walking simulator. You go around, you talk to people. They are boring. You walk other places, you flirt with chicks, it's boring. I tried but couldn't bring myself to get far into act 2
