If I could give this game a mid-rating, I would. It starts out great. The tutorials are fine and get you rolling. But then you start building a number of ships in a shipyard to unlock the next levels. (These ships serve no other purpose other than complex widgets you need to build in order to progress. They don't even move on their own until you trigger the complete level button, then they zoom off the screen.) At first, no problem. But as your base level increases, so does the number and type of ships you have to build. In theory, this shouldn't be an issue as you just increase your production to accommodate the new requirements, right? But then you realize your parts and hydrogen can only flow at a certain speed, and the bigger ships need a lot of hydrogen to fuel up. And some of them actually explode if they don't get fully fueled in time, so you wait. And wait. And wait. You can automate ship production only so much, because your tug-ships which move the widget ships to clear areas only have so much radius to work with. You find yourself grabbing the completed ships and tossing them out of the way like a cranky toddler crashing through his toys. And you do all this because you hope the next level will make things easier. It doesn't. Just more complexity, waiting, and, well... more waiting. For me, this game has a very good start but falters in the middle to the point where I'm so disappointed I don't care to finish. I've seen others express the same concerns. Just know that, at this point in development, the bottlenecks inherent in this game may not scratch that factory itch beyond the first levels. My recommendation is to wait for some of the logistics and engineering geniuses out there to post YouTube walkthroughs of version 1.0 that provide solutions to this waiting slog. Or, better yet, wait for a 1.X version from the devs to streamline some of these issues. Because there is a good game here, at least in the beginning. It just has massive pacing issues the deeper you go. Life is too short to wait hours for your game to complete a task while twiddle your thumbs.

Something that Outworld Station has that no other Factory Game has is consistent "Sending" of completed products. If you've ever finished Satisfactory and wished you could "keep going" toward the same kind of goal (vague for spoilers) then this is that kind of feature. Production chains are 3/10 complicated (Py being 10/10) but it can be frustrating sometimes not knowing the build you are making may be completely supplanted by a better recipe in the next phase. If you get turned off by the tendency to and look of spaghetti in your Factory Game, this game doesn't have that problem. Game also has a few progression speedbumps that can feel unpredictable and not thought out well. Overall had a good time. The AI voiceover can be unintentionally funny.
It's ok, not great but not bad either. Definitely scratch the factory automation itch The good: - Interesting factory automation game. You no longer have belts. Instead every buildings can be a belt and they have unlimited throughput. What you have to worry about is the output speed of storage boxes and buildings itself. There's a invisible link that let you send resource to and from any building and storage. So you can slap down a building basically anywhere, add the link and the resource starts flowing. You don't have spaghetti like other automation games with belt. - The game play loop is interesting enough to keep me engaging till the end game. - The alternate recipes are very powerful and feels meaningful to switch to The bad: - Half the tech upgrades for your drone or your base are useless or has little impact. For example, carry weight for your drone, except for the very beginning, there's no reason to spend tech point to upgrade that. - Combat feels rather lacking. It was interesting for a whole 5 minutes and quickly became more of a chore after. - Progression feels very grindy around tier 8-10 when you have to fuel your ship. A single shipyard can produce ships faster than you can fuel it due to the pipe limitation. And if you don't fuel it fast enough, your ship explode. The dev has since made some updates and reduced the requirement a bit. But still, make sure you build more fuel depot than ship yard - You can build on the 2nd level but it's annoying to do. You can toggle your view between '1st floor' or 'all' and so when you are viewing 2nd floor buildings, your screen becomes very busy. I wish we can toggle view between '1st', '2nd' and 'all' floor
A fun interesting factory builder set in space. While this game has a few minor issues. including a lackluster story and a pretty major frame rate drop late game, overall it was a satisfying factory game that kept me coming back until then end. As a bonus the developer is still pretty active and did a great job addressing Quality-of-Life and balance issues I had with the game when I started playing Overall: 8.5/10
If you've played Factorio, Satisfactory or DSP this doesn't really add anything to the formula and doesn't plays as smoothly as the previously mentioned games.
finished main campaign on 2player mode about 45hrs. Wonderful factory game that lets you start multiplayer shared session from the get go (host has to be active for other players to join) not that difficult since there's no real loss for stuff getting damage or inefficient cuz all mines are infinite and repairs are free, no need to route conveyor belts. Plus points for space-y sci-fi stuff around like wormholes being one way only. but downside if you like combat cuz the enemies dont put up a fight and its like shovelling snow out of your driveway , killing them only to access your resource while being a chore. final mission was a letdown since it was just a waiting game. some tooltips could be better worded for effective range all in all a good introduction to the genre.
As a Factorio and Satisfactory player this is scratching the itch of factory games that some recent ones could just not do. The recent QOL updates are also really welcome.
Fantastic game. One playthrough took me roughly 50 hours. It is a very optimization focused factory builder where you are constantly limited by the incoming resources and have to recreate parts of your station to fit the needs of the current stage. I did not spoil myself by reading much about the game beforehand or by watching any playthroughs and therefore was challenged through the whole game. In my opinion a big part of the fun is not knowing what equipment and resources will come with the next stages of station progression forcing you to adapt over and over again.
