Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Same day: best CN #57, worst JP #96 · 2 markets collected
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 30: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 9.14/day in the week to Jul 30 → 18.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Top-tier art. Everything is so beautiful, and the combat is pretty fun too.

Short version: Don't pick this over other JRPGs. It's a good game, but the cracks begin to show very early on, depending on who you start your game with. Less short version: I think Octopath Traveler 2 marks the first JRPG I've ever played where getting another character is an "UH OH" moment instead of a "Cool, my forces against evil and those who'd kill me improve!" moment. Unfortunately, every new character that joins the party is: Level 1, basically naked with useless gear, and needs babying to improve. Bonus: every character draws from the same pool of gear. This means, that if you have a well established first character since...you start with them, and you find one nearby and they're your duo, great! This will not be the case with other characters unless you know the meta. I don't, I picked the thief because prior JRPG history says that stealing gets you OP stuff. Seems like it was the case at the start, but unlike other games - this game has gates to keep you from stealing TOO MUCH, too early. The path action system is tied to levels, and is quite literally the only benefit of leveling. Leveling is not easy, and more importantly, getting money (leaves) is NOT EASY EITHER. This is the bigger problem, since unlike most games in the genre - restated: levels don't mean a darn thing in terms of 'general power'. Gear however does, and if you can't afford it (or in some cases steal it. Early on, there's not much valuable stuff you can take. There's 8% items that are likely cash sell items but...I have bad luck. X-COM was quit because of bad RNG, and 8% has shown me through many a save scum that I'm not getting it), then you're not getting power progression. Continued disclaimer: I picked Throné as my starter, and I'm not using guides. I like that the game is not afraid to hand me my ass by wandering into areas (because freedom of choice is for suckers!!!!!!!), but then playing the game normally doesn't seem to give what's required for progression beyond "go here, good luck." Seems like I'm behind the curve on currency and can't seem to keep up despite doing battles that take a tad longer than other games due to the break/weakness system. People swear on Octopath Traveler and 2's the one I got (Humble Bundle pricing), but I don't get the hype. Star Ocean 2 and specifically the remake 2R - are the highest height of JRPG for me. This isn't a top 5 or a top 10 by comparison. I'll try to finish it, but I fear I'll run into adversity I can't surpass...because of a lack of ability to pay absurd prices for weapons I kinda' need to do damage in a game full of spongey enemies.
The 1 was "okish" so I hoped the 2 would improve it but no it is the same game with the same issues... There is no point for the group to be together and they don't interact with each other except for some useless banters, as each character's chapter must be short (as there is 8 of them) the writting is not really good, it feels like a tweet, there is no actual character evolution or meaningful scenes. The combat is boring for the most part, normal battles are boring and encouter rate is way too high, you can't swap the first character you chose so it becomes way too high level, boss are cool but are too easily cheese without really trying. Why there is no team attack? Why there is no weather effects or real gimmick that force me to strategize or think? Music are great and the 2D-HD style is good but that is pretty much it. Forgettable RPG.
