One of those games that makes me wish Steam had a "Mixed" option. Consistently, at least until you have to redo a long section repeatedly, the game is absolutely terrifying. One of the genuine scariest games I've ever played. That alone is enough for me to give a recommendation as a cheap option for horror fans, looking for a few good jumps. Phenomenal atmosphere and sound design, great writing. And given then there are real VAs in the game, and that the TTS serves a narrative purpose, I'll even say that as an anti-AI guy, it was used well and unintrusively. Don't write it off just because one of several voices uses TTS for story reasons. The puzzles are much more of a mixed bag. the first few levels are great, almost capturing the vibe of an anomaly game while doubling down on the horror. But the back 65% of the game is... tedious. The tasks are unclear and unbalanced, one mistake costs you way too much time and dampens the tension of the whole segment. The Red Light Green Light segment especially stands out as a low point, and I almost quit the whole game right there. The precision timing it requires for you to not get penalized in that level is beyond absurd, and I had to turn my framerate down to 30fps just to add some leeway. After that, the puzzles just become annoying and time consuming. I did like enough of this game to justify the price. I got enough scares out of it to justify it taking up my afternoon. It's far from perfect, and this is a very soft thumbs-up. I'm largely leaning into the positive because this is an independently made game that shows a lot of promise, and I wholeheartedly wish to support the devs on their future endeavors.
