About
The universe is dying one star at a time, and your civilization is next. In Nullpoint Protocol, you and up to three allies face the void’s deadliest shepherds in a roguelite boss-rush where every encounter delivers the intensity and precision of a high-level MMO raid.
Whether you brave the void alone or face the darkness alongside trusty allies, difficulty scales to match your squad. Every run feels challenging but fair, and always tempting you into ”just one more try."
Each boss unleashes complex attack patterns that must be learned, read, and dodged. Every run is another chance to sharpen your skills as you prepare to face the final boss.
But stay alert: attack patterns change from run to run. No boss fight is ever the same twice!
With each Void Shepherd slain, you are rewarded with a random selection of ability upgrades. From meteor strikes to turrets to healing powers, crafting creative and powerful skill combinations is critical to success.
Bold choices will shape your path forward. Will you hunt down other adversaries, shop to optimize your build, or roll the dice on mystery events that could dramatically alter your entire run?
The stars have begun to wink out, disappearing one by one. Upon discovering the monstrous Void Shepherds, your people have drawn their attention. Now they are coming after your species, but you will not go quietly into the night.
Gear up and face the aberrations as they prey upon planets across the galaxy. Destroy these threats before they can drag more planets into oblivion and strengthen your body and mind as you prepare to face the Shepherds' creator, Void Genesis.
Should you fail, your civilization will be exterminated, and you will return eons later as a different species in yet another attempt to prevent apocalyptic catastrophe, lest the same tragedy happen again.

"high level MMO raids" and all I did in the first 30 min was just going to shops back to back with TERRIBLE pacing and had the most mid gameplay ever afterwards. This is more likely a Multiplayer Visual Novel.
I love this game. I think that future updates should introduce new bosses but i think the base game has enough content. I do think that the healing for clockwork clepsydra needs a nerf but other than that the game is great! (edit) I don't think that clockwork clepsydra's healing needs a nerf anymore. So with my problem out of the way i still don't think that this game is perfect, but i do think that i had a lot of fun playing this single player or multiplayer. P.S if your wondering how to fight the nightmare or just want to know what it is to fight it there is a bartender in the pool table room interact with him to start the nightmare fight. bye (:

This is where I wish Steam had a "mixed" option for reviews... I can't currently recommend this game in good faith. The concept of a roguelite "MMO raid-like" is absolutely awesome to me, but the execution is honestly somewhat terrible in this instance. (Keep in mind that this review is from the perspective of a solo player.) The starting selection of abilities is abysmal, and the options you get in your runs don't really get any better (including after the upgrades you get at your base, which really aren't worth it either). Often times at a shop, I haven't been able to scrounge up enough credits to be able to afford something that actually could do decent damage. The cooldowns of most every ability are far too long for the damage/healing output they give, and stat upgrades make but a marginal difference. Unless you have a build with high damage output (which generally sacrifices survivability), bosses are health sponges. Many of the ones I've faced thus far have had attacks that are nigh unavoidable. Better attack telegraphing (or maybe LARGER STAGES) could help nullify this to an extent, but it very quickly becomes a frustrating experience to fight any of the bosses. Especially when it comes to world navigation. Some planets have only one landing spot and that's it for that entire area, some are basically full-fledged stages that start feeling like a slog to get through. And in the beginning, a lot of spaces are labelled with "No Data," which means who knows what you'll be up against. Maybe it'll be an event, maybe it'll just be your third rest site in a row, maybe the single space asteroid will be a boss fight. And then there's the technical portion... almost every single ability I've used in my time thus far has come with a freeze frame that really messes with the pacing of a fight. Resource management and pacing are both very important in raid boss fights. Between the stutters and the aforementioned lengthy ability cooldowns, everything starts to feel like a fruitless endeavor. Usually there's a point where I've said to myself, "Yep, I'm going down here." This game feels like someone trying to follow a recipe, but they've never worked with any of the ingredients in front of them. Maybe it'll turn into something more delicious after some time in the oven, but for now.. consider my appetite gone.
Nullpoint is fun! I thought it was a solid Roguelite with some good adventure and boss fights. Game felt pretty balanced, has some good combos to discover, and has a pretty nice and quick cycle. They don't show it off in the promotional material a ton, but I really liked the planetary exploration and narrative sequences that occurs prior to boss fights. Couple of bugs here and there, but nothing that can't be fixed with some extra elbow grease. I'd recommend it, it's worth a run through. I beat the first "round" of content in about 3 hours, which felt just right for me, and there's plenty more beyond this point it seems. I got the key for free to consider for a Twitch stream, but otherwise wasn't obligated to review or put the game on my show. Felt worth going out of my way to do both!
Fun mechanics and builds. Got the game after patch 1.04 and haven't had any performance issues. Worth playing if you're a fan of rabbit and steel or just like mmo raid mechanics and roguelites
可圈可点,就是事件系统有点欠打磨了,几个星球的选择没有什么取舍。 技能不太平衡,期待后续更新
There's a chance the game becomes something good, but right now there's too many minor problems that add up to be a major letdown. I'll preface the rest of the review saying I only played solo on the hardest difficulty: Theres too little customization and options starting a run, even after unlocking "abilities" with meta-progression I learned those don't add to my starting options, but I was already seeing them as random rewards in a run, so what's the point? The basic abilities do FAR too little damage, and the bosses BARELY damage you compared to what the starting heal skill heals. It's very easy to spam dodge through most attacks, evens the mechanics you shouldn't mess up, and then just heal it off in a moment of downtime. Your abilities hardly do any damage, and the only reason I got through 3 bosses was being give a doom ability, that was then taken away by a random event, which led to a 10 minute boss fight for about 20% of the bosses hp. Speaking of mechanics, some are too easy/don't do anything, like the celestial fight, but of them are so jank they're nearly impossible to do, like the plague flower parkour. For messing up these mechanics one would expect a big punish, instead it's a slap on the wrist for maybe 20% hp, and then just heal it back. The first time any effect happens on screen the game freezes for a solid 2-3 seconds, this is independant of settings or specs, at least it seems to only happen once, but I never did test after restart if it would happen again. If the above gets fixed (lack of customization, doing too little damage to bosses at a baseline, bosses not punishing enough, stuttering), then it's possible there's a good game here, right now just not worth it.
Love the theme, the art and music are great, it's got a lot of cool concepts... this should 100% be my jam. But the core gameplay is just way too janky to recommend as it is. Hitboxes are ambiguous as hell, you have no depth perception due to the fixed camera, your attacks slide you all over the place, everything feels floaty, the spaceship sections feel tacked on at best... it all combines into a game that just really isn't that fun to actually play. I feel bad saying it, but it feels like a proof of concept for a much better game. I agree with the review saying this should probably have been released into Early Access. I really want to like this, and I hope the devs are able to make improvements on it post-release, because I can see the glimmering of something truly great in this. It's just not there yet.
This game is very hit or miss. Many of the abilities feel awesome to use, many of the abilities feel useless. Many of the perks have awesome synergies that make them super fun to use, many of the perks feel like they do nothing. Many of the bosses are some of the coolest and visually stunning fights in the genre, and some of them feel like unfair messes to fight. I personally don't feel like this game was ready to launch when it did, but there is enough here that I think it's super fun. In its current state, it is hard to get into and hard to fall in love with, but I truly love Nullpoint Protocol when it delivers.
Extremely fun, buggy on launch but the devs are constantly working on updating and fixing the game 10/10 I found myself lost for 10 hours straight playing. Love the game and I hope it continues to be great!
