Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Sep 13 → 1.33/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

this game's admittedly lackluster title more than makes up for it with its gameplay. hooked me more than Slay the Spire did. the three-tier combat is so juicy, the character designs are so fun, and every run feels so, so good. the only reason i might not call it a must-get if you enjoy StS is because Monster Train 2 exists, and it looks like it improves on MT1, though I can't say for certain as I don't own it.
It's like slay the spire but COOLER and HELL YEAH!!!

Runs can last a little longer than I would like, and the default difficulty is a little easy. Wildfrost was my first introduction into the card deck-building genre, and I prefer that over Monster Train for various reasons. The UI is not as clean as I'd like for this type of game; character design is Cthulhu-inspired but still comes off as a bit generic. The game suffers from a lack of enemy variety and an over-reliance on buffs and debuffs while ignoring other mechanics like attack patterns or unique boss abilities that you'd see in other games like Slay the Spire or Mewgenics. Gameplay-wise, this game has not aged all that perfectly and got too repetitive around the 50-hour mark for me to want to beat the final DLC boss. I no doubt could if I continued to play, due to a progression system that unlocks new, powerful cards the longer you play (a system which I especially hate; I preferred Wildfrost's system, where you have to earn a new card by accomplishing a specific task rather than just through playtime). I do recommend the DLC, as any more variety to gameplay than what is given is a plus, but it still falls short in the end. The game is also not as tightly balanced as Wildfrost or Slay the Spire, which lowers the difficulty a little and makes the base game too easy, with little incentive to add mutators for additional difficulty since it disables progression. It takes about an hour for a playthrough, and I got tired of easily blowing through all the enemies only to die to the final DLC boss. I didn't have the patience to keep grinding to get all the cards for each class due to repetitive mechanics but there is a healthy amount of content for the dedicated. Overall, 7/10.
