very fun puzzle game to play when you just need to chill :)
165/165 Achievements (at the time of reviewing) I absolutely love this game. The art style is simple but beautiful, and the clean minimalist design gives it a timeless look. It's easy to pick up, surprisingly addictive, and one of those games where you constantly tell yourself "just one more city." The best part is how flexible it is. It can be a genuinely cosy, relaxing game that you play while winding down, or, if you're an achievement hunter like me, it can become an incredibly challenging strategy game where every decision matters. The achievement list is excellent overall. There are plenty to earn, but they're well organised. Each city has the same set of objectives, so you always know what you're working towards without constantly checking guides or achievement lists. There are a couple of time-gated achievements, which I'm normally not a fan of, but in this case I unlocked them naturally long before finishing everything else. Performance is excellent. I played across a desktop PC, Steam Deck and Steam Link, and it ran flawlessly on all of them. I also tried mouse and keyboard, Xbox controller and touch controls. For casual play, controller works perfectly well, but if you're pushing for the 2,000-trip achievements or chasing high scores, mouse and keyboard definitely gives you the most precision. That said, I still managed to earn several of the harder achievements on the Steam Deck. It's also great to see the developers continuing to support the game with free updates and a public roadmap. Knowing there's more content coming makes it even easier to recommend. My only real criticism concerns a handful of the 2,000-trip achievements on the hardest maps. For me, Cape Town, Zurich and Chiang Mai crossed the line from being a fun challenge into a grind. Once you're consistently capable of reaching 1,800–1,900 trips, success starts to feel heavily influenced by how favourable your city generation is. Those last few achievements took me far longer than the rest of the game combined. That frustration doesn't change my overall opinion though. Mini Motorways is one of the best puzzle/strategy games I've played. Whether you want a relaxing game to switch your brain off for half an hour or a deceptively deep optimisation game that will keep you saying "one more run", it's an easy recommendation. Highly recommended.
