About
Waves of enemies attack you and your opponents. Build defenses to survive. Send mercenaries to smash through your opponents' defenses. Scale your economy to become a late game beast. Like Chess, every match is familiar enough to reward game knowledge, but divergent enough to require adaptation.
Each match, you receive a random roll of 6 fighters, from 12 million possible combinations. Every fighter has strengths & weaknesses. Some secure strategic advantages early game, while others have powerful late-game synergies. Your skill lies in your ability to make the most of the hand you're dealt.

With 9+ years worth of data-driven, monthly balance patches, Legion TD 2 is perhaps the most balanced competitive game in the world. Rather than introduce disruptive changes every year to shake things up, Legion TD 2 has opted to chase perfecting a healthy meta. If you take a break for a couple years and come back, your same openings will probably still be viable.

Party as 1-8 players. Play 2v2 and 4v4 matchmade games.
Single-player/co-op campaign.* ~8-12 hours, plus 10 levels of AI's.
Active playerbase. Fast, fair matches since 2017. Still going strong in 2026.
One of a kind gameplay. The only standalone team vs. team competitive tower defense.
Fun to learn. Dynamic in-game tips and special new-player matchmaking ease you in.
Packed with stats. Winrates, pickrates, match histories, leaderboards, top games, and more.
Global servers. All multiplayer is cross-region, hosted on our servers.
No pay to win. In-game purchases are 100% cosmetic.
Behavior system. AFKers, griefers, and toxic players are dealt with quickly.
Monthly tournament. $1,000 in prizes every month, hosted on Twitch.
Weekly challenges. A puzzle-like competition to find the best build with a set lineup.
*Note: single-player features require an online connection due to technical limitations of the game engine.
Legion TD 2 is the sequel to the 2nd most popular Warcraft 3 mod of all time, Legion TD. Also known as Squadron TD in Starcraft 2. The top 5 most played Warcraft 3 mods are DotA, Legion TD, Wintermaul, Footmen Frenzy, and Life of a Peasant. Legion TD is proud to hold the silver medal.

Legion TD 2 launched in early access in 2017, and has received major updates, quality of life, and balance changes every single month since then. After fully launching in October 2021, we believe it has grown to become the most replayable, balanced, competitive strategy experience out there. Unlike other indie multiplayer games, Legion TD 2's playerbase has stood the test of time, having been active & steady for nearly 10 years and counting.

This game is awesome and top tier. I bought it for 10 of my friends so I’d never have to play with randoms again. Ironically, most of them play worse than randoms, but at least they’re my randoms. Also if you’re one of the 10 reading this… yes, this review is absolutely about you.
Ranked is broken and people boost themselves by playing with one other person, a new account, in bronze, only to play with people below their rank. The dev is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Potential to be a really good game but each patch there are more and more cheaters and bots in the matchmaking and it is completely ruining the game. Would not recommend until they fix it.
Great Core Gameplay, Disastrous Management I want to love this game, but the developers make it impossible. While the core mechanics are solid, the way the project is being managed is a textbook example of how to alienate a loyal community. The Main Issues: Authoritarian Leadership: The developers consistently make massive, sweeping changes without any community consultation or transparency. It feels like they are playing their own game in a vacuum, completely ignoring the feedback of the people who actually spend time and money on it. Constant Meta Whiplash: Every single month brings "major changes" that feel like a soft reboot. Instead of fine-tuning, they sledgehammer the balance. They buff and nerf units so aggressively that any strategy you’ve mastered becomes obsolete in weeks. Removed Content: In a bizarre move, they recently removed an entire game mode(TD mode) that many of us enjoyed. Taking away content rather than fixing it is a lazy approach to development. Final Verdict: Don't get attached to any unit, strategy, or game mode, because it will likely be gone or ruined by next month. Until the devs start treating the community as partners rather than subjects, I cannot recommend this game.
The DOTA 2 of unit based "tower" defense. If you want to see what it is like for free then Squadron Tower Defense in Starcraft 2 is pretty similar, though it was made by different people. The original Legion TD was in Warcraft 3. This is the most approachable iteration on the genre with tutorials and single player campaigns. It also tells you how strong your army is vs the next wave so you can know whether to make workers or more defense and that helps a lot. Overall better than I expected after having played some squadron TD. IDK about the regular price but it has nice sale prices sometimes.
In game shop. You can buy "double down" which means you gain double MMR in ranked on a win. Predatory af. How this game isnt free to play with a shop for skins etc. is beyond me. Wont recommend
Legion TD 2 is a fantastic Tower Defense game that is still active and a lot of fun. It's dynamic but comfortable. There are many modes and it's very international/social. People are either quiet or polite most of the time and it has updates & achievements still. Very solid and one I keep coming back to. Definitely recommended!

The classic Warcraft 3 custom has been given its own game. They have a monthly tournament for money.
before ACE update: game is fun, good, performance is 100% great with no lag and no crashes while owning the game since 2021. after ACE update: game lags every match to the point framerate drops to 2-5FPS, game has crashed 4 times, every game has latency lag despite internet performing extremely well.
