Amazing - this game gets an A- from me: + An incredible blend of combat and exploration mechanics in an absurd chorus of technical magnificence and insane fun. + Really well done items and power ups, between excellent trinkets, collecting bones and leveling your damage and defense, etc. it all feels strong and earned + visually amazing, audibly memorable, this has the complete package for your senses. - Moments where the difficulty got in the way of the fun when it felt brutally hard for sections that didnt exactly warrant it (obviously subjective). - The story was somewhat light, very clearly this was not something that was meant to go deep or give us a lasting lesson, not bad by any stretch just not the focal point.

What a fantastic game! Highly recommended
nice
great game. would recommend to my best friend... or worst enemy. 9 out of 7 pickles
Ich liebe es, denn ich fühle mich als würde ich zurück in die Vergangenheit reisen und Zelda - The Minish Cap spielen. Sehr Tolles Spiel, kauft es euch bitte, tut euch den gefallen.
Easily the best top down adventure game to come out since the Zelda GBA games, but it's not just copying Zelda's homework. There's a lot more depth to the combat systems with a dizzying amount of trinkets to modify your abilities that actually change the game completely. If you want parry slop you can absolutely kit yourself out to perfect parry at least three different ways, there's also at least a couple different glass cannon builds and of course multiple sub weapon boosting trinkets so you can absolutely play this any way you want with any restrictions you want. The game is challenging but fair as well, and every room is designed to challenge your skills and perception. It also nails the treasure hunting aspects, highly recommend for anyone itching to go back to top down 2D adventure games
‘Have you ever done something bad, Mina? Something... unforgivable?’ Mina the Hollower reminded me what it was like to play Zelda games on the GBA during my childhood, as a kid there was something truly special about the magic of finding secrets and new items in those games. Mina have some of the best level design I've seen as far as top down is concerned. Almost every screens have some sort of collectibles and they are packed with thoughtful bones placement to keep you engaged. (bones are the equivalent of rupees, the main currency of this game.) The whole map feel very polished with a lots of attention to details. Every areas have it's own set of unique gameplay features (e.g. bounce flowers, bombs, fire torches) I was impressed at how creatives the devs could get, there is always some new surprise or fun way to interact with puzzles. npcs are fun to talk to, they'll often give you hints or have some humorous dialogues and interactions. Gimmicks don't overstay their welcome, so if you're not fan of certain mechanics, it won't take long to move to the next cool thing, Mina never get repetitive, there is always something new for the player to enjoy. The combat system is rather simple, the burrow mechanic is the core of Mina's movements, this is how you'll want to dodge enemies attacks and reposition yourself for the most part since Mina is otherwise quite immobile on the ground. You're given the choice between multiple main weapons and various sidearms which are the equivalent of Castlevania sub-weapons. You're also given access to several trinkets that provide special effects to help you both during combats and exploration, some combination can be very strong and make the game much easier. I thought it was a bit too simple, but the burrow dynamic still made for some cool fights. Some nitpicks I had : Neutral :

The bones up system : I'm conflicted about this part of the game because collecting bones is a core element of what make this game so fun. There is a cool balance of risk versus reward and it just feel very satisfying to just hunt for more bones. The problem is that the main way to use bones outside spending them in shops is the bone up system which function as a rpg mechanic to raise your stats. This heavily encourage to do the intended dungeons order since not only the later dungeons are balanced around the player having more stats, but subsequently earlier dungeons will be too easy.
The modifiers system : Personally I'm not a huge fan of customizing your own difficulty, I played the game without using a single modifiers, and I would have preferred a choice between multiple difficulties.
Negatives :

The lack of QOLs : For me the most egregious one is being forced to walk back to the npcs after losing a race, that turned a fun minigame into a rather frustrating experience.
I would also have liked a better map system considering how dense and filled with collectibles this game is.
Outside those minor issues, Mina the Hollower was one of the most fun game I played in recent years and I would heavily recommend it to any 2D Zelda fans.
she doesn't wear pants
This game really surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. The progression in this game is top tier. I'm typically someone who gets burnt out when playing most games, but I actually enjoyed it the MORE I played it. Every area is so full of content, never dragging things out and always doing something new. The beginning is tough, but going back through old areas after getting all your new upgrades is so incredibly satisfying. Once you start to master the mechanics of this game is when it really starts to shine. This game really clicked with me!
