A cool game about trains in which steam engines cannot replenish water and coal at railway stations, the stations themselves, even if they have 8 tracks, cannot build more than 2 extensions, and "intelligent" trains stand in queues for 5 days to the "shortest route" instead of using the track next to them for a detour... I don't know what kind of person you have to be to create such a game, but definitely not a railway enthusiast...
For €50 — which is what I paid — you don’t get very much. The game feels simply made, and the options are quite limited. If I compare it to another game like Transport Fever 2, which cost €40, you get far more content for that price, plus many more building and management options. As you can see, I haven’t played this game for very long, and I bought it about four months ago. So no — for me, the game is not worth the price.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is nothing compared to the first one.

Gameplay:
sadly its not a good sequel of the first Railway Empire. the only advantage is; - the stations that can be placed wherever you want. - Eight tracks in stations - Unlimited numbers tracks side by side. Everything else about the game is pitiful; this game must be moddable. The developers create a game that is extremely limited in terms of management, resources, and design, and bugs put an end to any hopes of having fun and completing a map.
Graphic design:
No improvement over the first one, the graphics are barely more polished and the maps are just as small with just as few resources.
Price:
Way too expensive for such poor DLC.
I don't understand why they made a second game. This game should be DLC for the first one, as it adds almost nothing except a few gameplay mechanics.

If you like Strategy, Managments, Tactics games come and discover what's available on steam.
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45245664-Seni-Gaming-Strategy-Tactics-TD/
Nope. Really tried. No mod support, no train pass through, not much of anything interesting new. I'd rather just play the first one. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this. I wish I took the rest of the negative views more seriously.
This is a good game when it works. Just Google Railroad Empire 2 won't launch to understand my reasons for not recommending this game. There seems to be an issue with the Kalypso launcher that makes loading this game hit and miss at best. This issue makes the loading the game a real headache. Because of this I can't recommend it.
The negative reviews for this game are very frustrating - it is objectively an improved and streamlined followup to the original that removes a lot of points of frustration and allows us to make bigger and more exciting layouts. The negative reviews I see largely come down to two things: 1) "Simplifying" the game. I did NOT enjoy manually placing signals, creating complex transfer criss-cross lines at stations, and micromanaging individual trains. I enjoy building efficient railways to handle different loads of trains, and now I can focus on that. Stations can have twice as many platforms, and you can have way more stations per city, so these changes are a big plus for me 2) Not using trains outside of their historical region. I can see why freeplay players might be annoyed by this, but I only play scenerios so this doesn't apply to me.
This was supposed to fill my fill of managing a railway company, a spiritual successor to Sid Meiers. This was not the case. It's riddled with bugs and missing all the personality that these games used to have. This is but an empty shell of a better past. Still looking out for other games in the genre!
Very relaxing as well as challenging. The many different scenarios will keep you captivated for hours. I utilize this game for relaxation from previous military traumas, which allows me to immerse myself in constant thought with the challenging play. Great graphics as well as realistic movement.
So close, but so far. I like the track laying. General aesthetics. But it feels goofy and disappointing next to the classics. The core problem of this game is it is so arcady and goofy in the maps. Why even bother using real word maps when you are going to insert random mountains in Indiana or suggest that Des Moines needs to import corn from Canada? If you want a kind of mindless game connecting dots, sure, it was entertaining in that regard, but if you want something that will finally match Railroad Tycoon 2 or 3? No luck.
