Absolutely a masterpiece. Completing the game 100% was a challenge. The one thing I will improve is the backtracking as it is a bit tedious. Other than that, if you love the Souls genre and 2D Top Down in general play this game!
Perfect game. No notes. If you're into these sort of things, this is one of the best. Great build diversity, great soundtrack, combat is fun, plenty of locals. Maybe the ODDEST secret ending conditions, but super interesting how they did it :P I don't got it in me, but kudos to those who do. Just super cool game, very fun. Can't wait for the studio's next game.

Quite a delight to play through with a tough yet satisfying challenge, and even enjoyable to finish 100%. Thinking back on the experience, the main issue I can say I had with it is that it could have used a more robust map system, as it's surprisingly easy to get lost or forget the route to shortcuts you uncover. Backtracking by going the long way around only to realize there was a shortcut *right there* could get a bit annoying. I also found the timing necessary to burrow to avoid some boss attacks a little too strict. While you can technically find the tools to help with that, it can take a while to actually get there. But overall, those criticisms are pretty inconsequential. This is still a great game that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a game with rock-solid design and a fun adventure.

Yacht Club Games does it again with Mina the Hollower! Much like Hollow Knight: Silksong, this game offers a great amount of freedom in how you play. If you want to be fast and mobile, dish out tons of damage, or make it easier to traverse the world and its many traps lying in wait are entirely up to you. Exploration is a must: it’s easy to get lost, but doing so nets you items and upgrades, shortcuts, and other juicy secrets. And of course, a banger of a soundtrack. This game will test your reflexes and finesse. This is a difficult one: there is a lot you’ll need to juggle i.e. platforming while dealing with enemies and environmental hazards, picking the right weapons and equipables, and dealing with treacherous boss fights. It can sometimes feel unfair or unbalanced, but often, switching out gear or approaching with a different strategy will get you the win, and it’s satisfying. Incredible game. Yach Club Games are masters of crafting a game with love and attention, and Mina the Hollower is no different. A must buy!
