For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A clone of the Civ series, with some novel and interesting improvements on how technologies are researched. Especially interesting is that there are different domains of improvements, such as government or warfare, which you use to buy powerful improvements. The combat system is also novel, where units fight automatically and you watch it play out similar to the Dominions series. I had a lot of fun at first and didn't understand where the negative reviews came from, until I encountered enemy combat AI. The AI just sends its units directly at your fortified cities, even when there is obviously no chance of winning. Often not even breaching my city walls in pointless and suicidal attacks. It was only my second time starting the game, and even with half the army I destroyed the AI civilization near me without losing a single battle. At that point I realized it was pointless to put more time into the game, and quit.
Actual abandonware that suffered the same fate as Imperator: Rome. Two potentially great games that have been corpocucked by an increasingly enshittified dev culture at Paradox. Won't be long before we head into another videogame crash at this rate.
This is a great game. One of the best games in the genre. I feel like the problem is not the game, but the publisher. They rushed the realease, made 2 expensive DLCs and abandoded the game after it resived backlash. Mixed reviews - is a death sentence to a game. I wish they would comeback to it. I belive if you are sad about it being abandodnd dont leave a negative review, but a positive one. That way there is a 1 in a 1 000 000 chance they will revive it. R.I.P
I went into playing this game on blind faith with Paradox, as a longtime Civ and Stellaris fan, I figured this would be something I would enjoy and was very pleased with the game. I was shocked to see so many negative reviews and decided to read through many of them. Their gripes are so minor that they miss out on all the new game play elements Millennia provides. I will ease some stress for those reading this review so that they have more confidence in buying this game. First, If you are looking for a MULTIPLAYER game DO NOT buy Millennia in its current state. I personally do not care for multiplayer and did not know it was supposed to even be in the game. But I would say half of the negative reviews are people complaining about how the game did not ship with multiplayer and the new beta for multiplayer is trash. This frustration is understandable, but still does not convey to anyone how the game actually plays. Second, if you have a close mind and just want a game exactly like Civ 5 or 6 but with new paint, this game IS NOT for you. There are so many reviews saying that Civ has much more control features, or polished AI. This game is a new title in a new series for Paradox, Civ has had well over 25 years of polish in its controls and plenty of time to refine the AI in its series. When Civ 5 and 6 came out, everyone complained about the AI in those games too, it takes some time for that refinement and the Millennia devs have already made the game so much better in the past year. After establishing who the game is not for, I will finally now go into what I think about the game. The graphics are okay, but because they aren't over the top, the game will run on mostly anything, which I appreciate. I play on a laptop with a Ryzen APU and the game never feels un-optimized. In the late game, it can get harder to run but on my desktop I have no issues. The soundtrack could use some more songs, playing with the music on can feel a bit repetitive, but I just turn it off and run spotify in the background while playing. This game has many new game play elements that simplify the turn-based experience and because of that, it does not have the same "micro-management" problem the Civ games can have near the late game. There are basically two types of cities, ones where you can manage them yourself and then there are vassels that will grow on their own and give resource bonuses based on their placement. The only downside to the vassels really is that you can't have them produce Units. Other than that, there isn't a real reason to make all of your cities a micro-managing mess. If you so badly wish a vassel could be a city you can manage, you can simply choose to convert it. There are also no workers in the game, rather the cities build districts on their surrounding tiles, further simplifying the more repetitive elements of turn-based games. The new ages feature is refreshing and encourages a lot of replay ability, so you can try getting into different ages on different play throughs. The technology tree changes up quite a bit when you choose an age and different units are only accessible in certain ages. There are also different endings depending on the ages you choose. Millennia does war really well, to the point where I think it should be the only victory option in the game. The game allows you to stack units in armies and then the army attacks all together. The different units cancel each other out like "rock paper scissors" so you really have to pay attention to what your opponent is using and adapt your armies accordingly. This is refreshing compared to most other strategy games where you just rush through the tech tree and get better units than everyone else so you can steamroll them. The diplomacy in this game is not good, there aren't many options to choose in terms of diplomacy, you can enter trade agreements, make alliances or declare war and that's pretty much it. You never feel like the other countries are living breathing nations, they just feel like another generic civilization to conquer. Overall, if you have a tendency to go the conquest route in Civ games, hate micro managing in other strategy titles and are looking for something new, this game could be a great option for you. Otherwise, if my first two points apply to you or you prefer diplomatic and cultural actions with nations as an your end goal in a 4X game. I doubt you will enjoy this game as much as the many other titles in this genre.
My problem isn't so much so with the game as much as it is with the launcher that the game runs from. For a while now there have been problems just getting the game to launch. The games official website acknowledges this and suggests manually updating the launcher among other things. There are a variety of 'solutions' from others on the forums as well. For me however, these solutions work for a time or two and then stop again and I'm left once again trying to figure out how to get into the game. For a game as new as this (out less than a year at the time of this post) this is really not acceptable. Also it should be noted that the developers have been actively updating the game regularly with major updates as well as patches, but yet this problem to just be able to launch the game persists. I like the game for the most part. It does things a bit differently than other 4x games I've played and I like some of the new ideas that they've implemented. But the amount of time I've spent just trying to get into the game, and reading up on various solutions and bypasses makes this really hard for me to be able to recommend the game at this point in time.

I knew it would happen, but it still must be stated that once again a game Paradox has control over failed to be a big name, so they did the bare minimum required of them, and then abandoned it. The potential, wasted. Let it be a lesson that if its not a big name game, avoid games Paradox touch until you're sure its not going to be abandoned.
By now, I have invested a good 40 hours into *Millennia* over two separate attempts: it has many strengths and weaknesses at the same time. **On the positive side:** * A number of fresh ideas for the 4X genre—for example, the introduction of distinct resource pools (Government, Exploration, Engineering, etc.) that can be used for various actions. * The Age system makes the campaigns very diverse and varied. * The same applies to the systems of government forms and national spirits. * The city-building and goods-chain mechanics are motivating. **On the negative side:** * The presentation lacks charm, and the graphical quality is rather modest. * From the midgame onward, there is a lot of "busy work." * Important quality-of-life features, such as automatic exploration, are missing. * Technical issues in the late game (performance!). * The AI behaves illogically and aggressively. * Diplomacy lacks any sense of atmosphere. Despite these issues, I enjoyed playing it, and it developed a surprisingly strong pull. I can therefore recommend it—with certain reservations.
