Millennia manages to fix the biggest problem I have with most other 4x games. In most 4x games you pick a civilization, group etc. with preset bonuses which synergise with a specific environment, which, depending on where you spawn, may be a big boost or massive detriment. Millennia solves this by having the player pick a cosmetic tag, a small, universal bonus which are all generally useful, independent of the situation, and then allowing you to adapt to your surroundings by picking national spirits. For example, in the early game one might spawn next to a lot of hills, which are usually slow to expand into and provide building areas for quarries. To alleviate this one may pick the God-King Dynasty national spirit, who’s unlocks provide easier expansion into hills and reduced cost of quarries and stonecutters. If one spawns near a bunch of forests, one may on the other hand be more inclined to pick naturalists, which provide bonuses for expansion into forests. So, no longer is one bound by the civilization they picked and then at the mercy of if the game decided to give one a good spawn, but instead the ability to skilfully adapt and synergise the production methods, expansion boosts and the start one is given is deciding, removing a lot of the punishing rng with getting good spawns in 4x games.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I really wanted to like this. It brings up a lot of jarring opinions that should be mutually exclusive... I like the exp earning and the different faction trees that fall under this. At the same time, I am disappointed in the somewhat homogenised nature of the actual civs themselves. I don't love that every decision has a fanfare of screen openings and cut scenes, yes I can probably turn it off but it only took me a few hours of gameplay to get sick of it. The good: I like that armies are whole armies and have a mixture of unit types within them. You can make the right comp. Equally, I miss the Civ6 ranged units where I can shoot from far away. Lack of a production queue is annoying. I'll come back when there's another major update. Maybe I'll mod it (but shouldn't have to). If it improves I'll change this review. I got the deluxe edition as a lot of people said that the stuff it adds basically "completes" the endgame. TBH - I didn't get there. I ran out of steam. The game needs a better "at a glance" things to help make good choices. Like some production outputs for hexes etc. I've got several thousand Civ hours. I really wanted this to grab me and keep me at least until Civ7, but this just seems to fall short. Nothing grabs me. Nothing makes me want to come back for more. There might be something coming, I own it now, so I'll keep an eye on the updates and see if anything appealing happens. Also as of 1st Dec 24 - simultaneous multiplayer is still in open beta. so at least its coming but I cant be arsed to do your QA for you after having paid a full price tag for the game.
Bref, nul
Great game but it does need stronger AI opponents.
Am Anfang schwierig und komplex, aber wer durchhält wird mit einer Spieltiefe belohnt, die man von heutigen CiVs nicht mehr kennt.
wow
Bought this game on Launch when it first came out. At the time (launch) the game was terrible and complete trash. After several updates they basically pulled a No Man's Sky and made the game into a good game. The Combat kind of sucks but putting that aside everything else takes the Civilization formula and makes it better.
Niestety nie jest to wybitna gra cywilizacyjna. Gorsza od Humankind. O wiele gorsza od Ara: History Untold. Nie polecam.
