About
From Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy) and Tyler Glaiel (Closure, The End Is Nigh) comes a deeply tactical legacy roguelite that asks:
What if you could breed the perfect army of whiskered warriors, then send them on tactical adventures in search of food, money and loads of treasure?
The Cat Loop:
Welcome to Boon County, where each day you’ll assemble a team from your ever-growing house and outfit your cats with class-specific collars (Fighter, Tank, Mage, and many more). Send your mutant feline squad clawing through adventures of turn-based battles that demand careful positioning, wild power combos, and environmental shenanigans.
Combat That Rewards Mastery:
With 1000+ unique abilities (75 per class), 900+ items, and countless environmental interactions, every run throws fresh tactical puzzles at you. There’s real depth here, and endless room for experimenters and optimizers alike.
Breeding Creates Your Future:
Cats that return home carry scars, experience (and sometimes extra heads!) Pass down strange skills and mutations, tinker with your bloodline, tackle genetic quirks, and build ever stranger, more powerful cats for the next adventure.
Epic Scope:
200+ hour main campaign
10+ character classes with 75 unique abilities each
900+ wild items
200+ enemies and bosses
Roguelite progression: never experience the same game twice.
Choices at every turn. Money! Items!! And genes!! All matters.
From Simple to Infinitely Complex:
Mewgenics welcomes you in and then reveals more and more layers over time. Early runs teach the basics, but soon you'll be optimizing breeding chains, discovering unexpected ability combos, and making agonizing strategic choices about whether to keep a cute kitten or give it to one of the many NPCs to upgrade your house. Mewgenics offers you a path to tactical mastery while embracing chaotic emergent gameplay.
Build, experiment, adapt! There’s always a new way to experiment with (and break) the game.
Also: you can pet the cats.

Game of the year but I will never forgive Edmund for getting Blood Frenzy and other bs from events.
[strike] Isaac and his mother [/strike] The cats lived alone in a small house on a hill...
I enjoyed the time I spent on Mewgenics thoroughly. The main gameplay loop of cat breeding, house upgrading and going on adventures works really well and can be very addictive. There's a lot of stuff to tinker with when coming up with optimal strategies and the game's difficulty certainly encourages making the most of what you've got. While the house/breeding component of the game could use some polishing for easier management of cats, setting cats up for an adventure can get quite laborious thanks to the vast assortment of abilities and items in the game (and the resulting synergies between them), and the adventures themselves can go on for quite a long time, personally I found such shortcomings minor in the grand scheme of what the game has to offer.
0,08 € per hour of entertainment
Mewgenics manages to keep the gameplay engaging throughout the whole length of the campaign and even the full completion process, as the wide pool of abilities and items that the game has you draft from makes every run unique. Since the player's given a choice from a fairly limited selection of abilities at a time, not every cat manages to get equipment and spells that synergize with one another, but interesting combos happen often enough that I kept always looking forward to the next adventure. For me, the difficulty was tuned just right, as every adventure felt like it had stakes and a sense of danger but it never got overwhelming. Even as I managed to break the game in a way where every run had a near guaranteed success rate, little things like having a kitten be born with some insane new name that I didn't expect contributed to keeping the experience fresh.
Someone help, the game's out to get me
The game can feel very unfair at points as the evil, vile rng can ruin the player's carefully crafted plans at the drop of a hat (R.I.P. The Righteous Chubbers, whose expedition to Hell crumbled after El Gatorade, in a bout of confusion, punched himself in the face 9 times in a row), though the game does provide the tools for the player to eventually minimize the bad outcomes of random rolls. The game is not easy and demands a lot from the player, but it also rewards those who learn the many systems that are in place... and maybe put in the time to exploit said systems.
Noooo I swear the song's about cats
Oh my god man, the soundtrack? Duuude, that ♥♥♥♥ contains a legitimately crazy amount of catchy tunes. While the instrumentation gives the music an overall jazzy sound, Ridiculon has managed to make each track feel unique via implementation of a mixture of different musical styles. The vocal performances are equally deserving of praise, too, as they all help shape each song into their own thing. The intricate composition, raw vocal delivery and crude yet clever lyrics make even a song about a poop circling the toilet bowl sound like it has some profound truth to it. And you know what? Maybe it does.
In conclusion
It's rare for a game to keep me coming back for so many hours over a span of 6 months. Other games with bigger names got released during that time period, yet Mewgenics was mostly the only game on my mind. I look forward to what the team's going to cook up next. That said, I'm more of a dog person ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Latest in each market: best RU #30, worst AU #100 · 13 markets collected
US · last 30 days
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

My cat hasn't killed god but she's still pretty cool
Every individual element of this game is done very well. The soundtrack, the artstyle, the battles and the other gameplay mechanics are all good. It's tough to say why, but I find it just doesn't click for me and I don't find it fun.
