Reviews
Here is the formula of the game: Play game, realise your fingers don't work in the way your brain says, finally figure out how beats work, play 3 nights getting 2-3 stars, miss a beat in a level, cry, get insomnia over missing a beat, finally get the beat, miss a different beat. Then rinse and repeat. Highly recommend
Melatonin's namesake is ironic because everything about the experience will keep you awake, locked-in &/or annoyed.
The gameplay is intense & unforgiving, the rhythm is usually asynchronus, off-beat or heavily reliant on the art & graphical animation over audio . Gameplay comes in the form of Spacebar & Arrowkey inputs at the allocated point in the level, indicated by respective audio cues but mostly through animated characters & items, however audio/visual feedback for failure is a mixed bag. Overall there is little room for error due to tight input windows & sequential correct inputs being all-but required to gain the stars required to reach the next level. Melatonin dumps a lot of information on you from the get-go rather than feeding said information where applicable as you progress, although each level has a dedicated practice level available prior to a true attempt that explains the required actions & cues through a screen indicator. The true attempts remove the indicator from the experience & challenge your audio/visual timing & knowledge although with its removal I found the game to be unfun & frustrating as the audio levels, music, metronome & effects, at best are quite similar to each other or completely overpower each other at their worst. There is no dark mode and every level & menu consists of constant soft bright colors from a pastel palette. The graphics, artwork & animations are cute, fun & well crafted but the gameplay & levels are too dependent on their presence rather than audio & rhythm indicators which makes the game draining to play with constant white beaming at your face.
Conclusion
Overall I found Melatonin to be outright unfun without accessibility options enabled & too boring with them enabled & I recommend purchasing if you're interested when it drops to around $5-7AUD. I have requested a refund after attempting to play the game on 5 seperate occasions as I thought my mood may be a factor but alas.

Расслабляющая, приятная игра, учит смирению и принятию того, что ритм ловить ты вообще не умеешь.
the visuals and the songs get me in a flow state haha, very chill game
I DID enjoy this game a lot at certain parts and i do think it's a decent game, so im giving it a positive review, although there are a few issues I have with it. A lot of the levels where really fun and unique from eachother, but I feel like it is somewhat dissapointing that the i guess "boss stage" of every chapter is just (kind of small spoiler i guess) a collage of every level, i wish they had a little bit more uniqueness to them, it's not that much of a problem though, their usually still fun. Also for 20 dollars I feel like it maybe kind of lacks a bit of content, it only took me under 3 hours to beat and that's honestly like nothing compared to some other rhythm games i've played. But maybe this part is just me. If you like rhythm games, it seems interesting, and you don't care all too much about what i've said, give it a go.
很好玩很好看的游戏 sukisuki
A decent game for rhythm/music game fans. I truly love the design, colours, and vibe. There are also nice settings options, so you can personalize the game to your own preferences. When it comes to making your own levels, I think it’s a bit too confusing (at least for me). The only drawback is that the game is too short. Overall, it’s a good, cozy game, but definitely overpriced.
A cosy rhythm game with chill music and a dreamlike atmosphere. Easily a game to play if you need to wind down for the day.
Good chill game Not a ton of content tho im playing with one hand while the other strokes to the rythm
