If you liked Battletech and specially the MW series, this is a worthy addition! The main difference between this one and MW5:Mercs is that this here is a more straightfoward game with a nice story and NOT a sandbox experience. It is quite more challenging and it can be fun to retry the varied missions using different mechs and loadouts.
It's a strong maybe. The game is fun, the story is interesting, and it scratches the MechWarrior itch. It just feels like a step backwards from MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Maybe it was a victim of budget cuts, or perhaps an overly-optimistic deadline. I enjoy playing the game, it just feels like in a lot of little ways the game is desperately trying to get me to not like it. Pick it up if you're nostalgic for the old Activision games, or you're a fan of the PGI games, or if you're a BattleTech fan in general and want to see the lore represented in a video game. Probably worth waiting for a sale, though.

Beautiful mechwarrior game
About a 7 out of 10. This doesn't have the flexibility of Mech 5 Mercs but is worth playing. The Ghost Bear DLC is the way the first should have been. The AI companions feel better than it was in Mercs and do not die nearly as easily. The character models in the story of the base game are horribly ugly, although this gets much better in the ghost bear DLC. Worth picking up on sale, but solidly playable if you don't. I got a lot of time out of it. The one other con to the game is that it takes up a massive amount of space on your hard drive.
I found that Merc's was not my really my gameplay style so I was interested in clans when it released as it looked like it was much more single player focuses, linear and structured. After I played clans for the first time I imediatley purchased flash storm and subsequently the clan wolf DLC. I am now going back through the campaigns a second time playing in COOP. Highly recommend.
Good
Just as I was admiring how good of a game this is, as I get to the next planet to the Turtle Bay mission terrible FPS stuttering emerges and google search shows a handful of similar complaints beginning at the same mission. This seems to make the game entirely unplayable! What a shame, because I was really starting to enjoy this. Changed back to positive as problem is "solved" :)
I really like this game overall - but I kinda see where it neither satisfies fans of the setting nor newcomers - for the latter there is very little lore information available outside the movies and for fans the salvage system, mechlab, research and pilot XP are maybe a bit too dumbed down. TLDR: if you really enjoyed the more story driven missions with individual maps in MW5 Mercs you will really like this (especially if the more grindy part in that game is maybe a bit too much or less enjoable. other way around it might be harder.... also the amount of mechs thrown at you is pretty insane in some missions you really ´going to struggle hard with more ammo dependend mech loadouts. on the third hand you can put 16 MG on your adder and leg assault mechs all day long - in a way this is the first mechwarrior title where I really have been using light mechs in higher tiers which is kinda nice.
Very bad.
It takes up all my video memory. The menu 9 fps. How does this work?
1. The locations are poorly designed, as if they were cobbled together from free resources. 2. The sense of scale of the vehicles is poor; they feel small. Even compared to the vegetation and grass, everything looks very low-quality. 3. The performance is very strange; the game runs at 20 FPS in the menu and lobby. How so? 120 during gameplay. 4. Everything on the screen looks like a jumble of pixels. The graphics are unattractive, the physics are poorly designed, everything is very arcade-like, not at all what you expect from controlling a large robot. Enemy robots bounce around like rag dolls when they die. What is this? 5. The interface is overly detailed, there are unnecessary components, unnecessary upgrades, artificially drawn-out progression, for no apparent reason, everything is very stupid. 6. The game's main scenario is, to put it mildly, some kind of childish nonsense, something you wouldn't expect from clan warriors; it's a nightmare. I'm talking about the scripted dialogue, the mental anguish, they're like idiots. The constant chatter during the game, during combat, seriously? Where's the focus, attention, and dialogue in combat? 6. A mission in the dark on the moon, with some kind of storm, what? On the moon, a storm? It's so bad, it's such garbage, the storm particles just spinning like ♥♥♥♥. 7. Sound, I don't understand if there is any here at all :D
It's a pretty average product, it's a shame, but it's not worth paying attention to.
