Unstable base game and DLC. I've spent more time troubleshooting crashes then actually playing the game. I have an AMD GPU but from what I understand people with Nvidia GPUs are having their own issues. As for what I have gotten to play of the game, not impressed. Honestly the graphics seem better in Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries and the story is irritating. I am not super into the lore of Mechwarrior but the clans are portrayed as EXTEMELY arrogant, constantly underestimating their opponents and walking head first into traps. Honestly they remind me of the First Order from Disney Star Wars.
HOT garbage. Each game is worse than the last. Anyone who read the books can tell this is low brow material. The pilots are whiners and complainers. Their annoying banter is cringe and does not match the high level of professionalism of the clans. The whole thing is a joke. Controlling your lance is clunky. Your lance mates are very bad at piloting. There is tons of AI generated stuff. Really basic pathfinding. And they added a liberal serving of liberalism as well.

Game worked 1 time. Second time i played it does not work anymore Tried to fix it with few solutions did not work Am stuck with a dead game
Alright game. However the story's stars, the Smoke Jaguars, are written so out of character that the only explanation for it is woke nonsense. It was easy to ignore as a one-off thing early on when the saKhan of the clan most infamous for its outright hatred of non-warriors puts her neck on the line for Spheroid civilian prisoners, but after that it just gets so much worse. Even the protagonists, save for one of the girls in the Star, don't act like Smoke Jaguars. The only one who really does is eliminated early on and when he returns is actively demonised by the rest of the main cast. Aside from that, the game doesn't really have anything it can do to add difficulty to it. It's a Wing Commander style of game, so this is achieved by just flat-out sending wave after wave of heavy and assault mechs at you all the time in the latter half of the game. Usually there's also a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ final assault lance that spawns in right when you think you're about to get an extraction cutscene. So lazy. As an aside, I always get bored in these games right around the time the drop tonnage maxes out. I wish there was a reason to bring the lights and mediums that you abandon using 5 minutes into the campaign. There are some positives - you can angle where you fly around with jump jets which is great and in combination with the new modernised control scheme, somewhat brings the franchise out of the 90's for the first time. Being aped by elementals feels appropriately scary when it happens, though after a while it just becomes frustrating.
I personally think this is quite possibly the worst Mechwarrior game. A more appropriate title would have been Mechassault 3: Clans as it has more in common with that series of games than Mechwarrior. It suffers from some of the same issues which MW5: Mercaneries had, while introducing an assortment of new ones. I was hoping PGI would strive for a more simulator approach to Mechwarrior games similar to the 90’s games, but unfortunately they chose to double down on the brain dead, arcade-y, shooting gallery Mechassault-type of game. Linear maps, infinite enemies, abysmal HOTAS support, no TrackIR support, bugs and a complete lack of tactics or strategy make this a dud in my eyes. Some positives: Excellent models, great to see events we’ve read about for decades play out, music has improved drastically and the battlegrid is a decent concept, however it is useless. If you can tolerate an endless barrage of enemies and are a die-hard Battletech fan, I would consider grabbing this at a discount. Otherwise, boot-up a copy of Mechwarrior 2 or 3 instead. Or expand your horizons and try out Earthsiege, Heavy Gear 1 & 2 or Shattered Steel.
Only good thing this game has going for it is its cinematics. Everything else is the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from MW5:Mercs -Dumb ♥♥♥♥ AI copy pasted from Mercs -Game throwing you into a bottomless pit of nonstop enemies just like Mercs -Upgrades that don't feel impactful -Useless weapons that either put yourself at risk or team mates (flamethrower, short laser, machine guns, etc.) -Mechlabs somehow being inferior to a free mod for MW5:Mercs
I really want to like this game since I am a Battletech fan but why would you arcadize mech combat when you had good and well working model from Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries? Why not build on that? Story and graphical upgrades are a positive but Devs almost destroyed what should be a heart and soul of this game - Combat and Collecting upgrades you earned and recovered yourself. Without that the game loop is straight boring. It looks like a Mechwarrior game but it feels like a shooter game while wearing Mechwarrior suit. I'd prefer to play Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries any day. In Clans after finishing the campaign there's nothing to look for, nothing to gain, nothing to work for... A shame.
TLDR: The super underwhelming "Clan" game. Pointless customisation, just grind thru the often boring, linear missions. Extremely disappointing. Near 0 replay value. Only buy if on a major sale. This game is so disapponting on so many levels. Gameplay wise, it really isn't much different from MW5 Mercs, only more dumbed down. MW5 itself already felt like a dumbed down MW4. The controls & mechanics all feel simplified. Cut scenes are ok but there isn't a likeable (Dunno if this is intentional as clanners are all asses) or memorable character. But it provides you with a glimpse into how a Clan works, albiet in an extremely simplified manner. Headshots are necessary but also pointless. This is the quickest way to down enemy mechs but as you don't get to salvage them or increase the "points" you receive after the mission ends The game's biggest sin/failing is simply this: the mechs are so underpowered. Clan mechs that don't feel like Clan mechs. They don't just feel weak, they are weak. The weapons do even less damage then the IS equivalent from MW5. A gauss round cannot nail light armour in a single strike? As a filthy casual, Clan mechs were always, almost like gods, better armed, better armoured, Fully capable of handling anything the IS had to throw at them in a straight fight. This game has a Mad Cat, piloted by a supposedly elite Smoke Jag Khan, lose an arm to some idiotic pirate in a Battlemaster, like really? The only interesting thing to me is the Omnipod system. The ability to really customise the loadout to something you'd like to use but here again, it feels like an afterthought. There are challenges that keeping asking for "Stock" configs and there really isn't that same feeling to explore different mech loadouts.
This game is a serious mis-step int he Mechwarrior 5 series. It took all the things that made Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries unique and fun to play, and replaced them with muted / unclear / arcade style systems which do not feel fun to play. The sound design is awful (compared to the amazing sound of Mechwarrior 5), the soundtrack is weak, the visuals are washed out (even on maxed settings), and most egregiously for a game where 100 ton war machines are fighting each other, hits don't "feel" like anything. I don't even notice when a limb is destroyed until I try to use the weapon and nothing happens. Pathetic. Frankly it feels like your cockpit is a sound proof booth. I have no idea what these normally competent and dedicated devs were going for here, because this completely fails to convey the zealotry, warrior spirit, and brutality the "Clans" are known for. As an OG Battletech fan since age 14 I am very disappointed. Perhaps they are just sick of making Mechwarrior games after a decade+ of churning them out. Too much of their budget and time perhaps was spent on Cutscenes that were supposed to ground us in the game world, but only succeeds in wasting your time with hammy dialog and forced emotional scenes with characters I don't even feel invested in. Weak sauce.
