For a game named Making History, you are surprisingly constrained by the historical path of your chosen nation. Want to conquer the world as Iceland? Well that's just too bad cause you'll never actually be able to progress.

Although a few new features have been added (including an excellent pre-war scenario with an earlier start date), this is essentially the identical game to the original Making History: The Calm and the Storm. (I'm *guessing* that after Muzzy Lane changed publishers, they opted to re-release the game with a few extras and a new title). So if you have the original, you don't really need this one unless you want the extra scenario. And if you're looking to get your feet wet with the making History series, the Gold Edition is the place to start. There's a reason why many educators choose the Making History series as a "hands-on" classroom tool. This series is *considerably* easier to lean than the (excellent, but VERY complex) Supreme Ruler series. Think of making History as a highly streamlined Hearts of Iron. The scenarios in Making History are well-researched and provide excellent insight into the problems of 1930s grand strategy. You'll gain insights into the reasons why various nations made the choices they did, plus the Making History games are an accessible laboratory for experimenting with ahistorical choices and their consequences.
