Oh my goodness. Before 2026, I had never played either Lunar game, despite hearing so many amazing things about them. Now, I COMPLETELY understand the hype, and I'm kicking myself because I had missed out on Lunar for so many years. With that said, please understand that there's NO nostalgia speaking here; and even so, I must say that these rank as some of the best games, let alone JRPGs, that I've ever played. I have now become a shameless Lunar fanboy, raving to all my friends and coworkers about how great these two games are. Eternal Blue in particular is a shoe-in for the best JRPG I've played. Everything, ranging from the upbeat messaging, Iwadare's soundtrack, the cute graphics, the gameplay loop, the humor, the plot pacing, and the lovable characters, is absolutely firstrate. It's one of those obscenely rare gems which demonstrates just how powerful a medium for storytelling that a video game can be, and which reminds me of why I fell in love with video games as a kid. I think the closest comparison from this time period would be Phantasy Star 4, which I similarly hold up as a masterpiece... but all things considered, I don't think even Phantasy Star 4 is on quite the same level as Eternal Blue. Skies of Arcadia is the only JRPG that I'd hold up as Eternal Blue's equal, and looking back, I can clearly tell that Eternal Blue had a HUGE influence on Skies. Speaking of influence, both Lunar games were monumentally important to the entire genre for years to come, even if neither of them ever got the mass recognition that Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest did. The originals, released in 1992 and 1994 respectively, were among the first JRPGs to utilize anime-style full motion video and voice acting. In other words, Lunar was arguably the first JRPG series which proposed the notion that a video game can stand on a cinematic level. Not only this, but Ghaleon was a mold-breaking character for his time, and his design was instrumental in dozens (or maybe hundreds?) of similarly-styled characters throughout JRPG history. And alongside FF6, Eternal Blue was one of the trailblazing JRPGs of its era which was pushing the envelope on how to develop three-dimensional, lovable characters. (Lemina and Ruby are my personal favorites.) Oh, and both Lunar games were some of the first JRPGs to utilize fanservice in any meaningful way, so make of that what you will. There's even more that could be said -- and that many people have ALREADY said about these games over the years -- so I'll refrain from raving more about Lunar here. I'm extremely grateful that the Lunar duology found its way onto modern consoles. It's always a good thing when older games get this treatment, both for accessibility and preservation purposes. Especially games of this astronomically high caliber.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 2 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

~9.5/10~
Lunar SSSC was the first game I played with my older sister when I was 8, and Lunar 2 was the first game I bought with my own money, these games are incredibly important to me and the remasters have been done so well, so much love put into this.
Few changes to some of the writing to keep the game updated with the times kind of suck. Some of the original texts were changed and made less corny, but are not really noticeable unless you compare it side to side to the original. All and all, still a good port of the originals. Many hours spent on the PS1 and fantastic story for it's time. Really cool to see this art on Sega CD / PS1 and still look as good as it does back then.
glad I got to experience these as an adult despite missing out on them as a kid. more companies with old titles should be doing this.
For this price i shouldnt feel like im paying a buggy emualtion the menus and ui are awful
Lunar has been my favourite game since it came out on the ps1. It's still a great game.
What kind of game doesn't allow you to completely remapped the keyboard control. On emulator I am used to mapping movement to wasd and action keys to arrow key. This game PROHIBITS you to do that.
I think Lunar 1 is a fairly good game, but it's also fairly short. What drags it down here is its vastly inferior sequel that not only was localized to hell and back, but that doesn't make any sense story-wise. It feels like sequelitis in every way possible except maybe the combat mechanics. Even those kind of flatten out once you realize what works and what doesn't. There's an interesting boss or two, but the rest you can pretty much mash your way through them and come out alright. Overall this is a very 6 out of 10 duology. It's very middle-of-the-pack. There's no big cool thing here to see or do to make everything else worth it, like there are in some other JRPG's. If you haven't played Lunar 1, you might catch this at a steep steep discount. But you're not missing out on much.
