accessibility settings assist more with video-game-related motion sickness sooo much.
LOST EMBER is a motion-sickness walking simulator. Played until getting really dizzy, uninstalled, reinstalled, and played until getting really dizzy again in 1.5 hours using a game controller. Difficulty is easy with direction being confusing at times. You play as a wolf that can change into any animal it comes across. There are ducks, hummingbirds, wombats, armadillos, and more. You find red 'fires' among a bunch of disassociated lands and hit y until it tells you a story of your past life. A Navi sprite follows along with you and kinda guides you? But kinda doesn't. Occasionally you'll hit a red invisiwall that you sometimes can't pass until you find the hidden fire bits you missed. Somewhere in there you can collect things like mushrooms and eat food. The animals have abilities like digging and flying that wolf form doesn't, and you can shift back to wolf form no matter what you change into. Being honest, I like this game to a point. Love the concept of the wolf and the animals. Was jiving with the story of the past life. Was cool with finding embers and pots. The scenery is pretty. And then I suddenly hit a point where I stopped caring. It was the tight field of view and the camera that did it. The camera is mischievous amounts of unpredictable. Most of the time it's way too close to the animal. Other times, like when panning or changing shape, the camera suddenly zooms in or bounces around. Being in the open is OK until about 20 minutes pass by, and that's when I start feeling what I had for lunch; Being a wombat in a burrow or, worse, a hummingbird being blown around, is a straight up nightmare trip to the bucket. There are other games that make me ill, but this one really takes the cake. After that experience, I took more notice to how the game just lacks. What's the point of eating? Why are there so many wombats? Why should I care about collecting anything? Because running doesn't help the sickness, the game becomes a slow walking simulator and the story no longer sticks out as entertaining. I wanted to speed through and be done, and I can't even do that. At Chapter 3 it became apparent this game is no longer fun. Become an animal feels gimmicky, the story is an old hat, and there's nothing there to hold me good enough. There are also bugs. Screen stutters. Crashes. Though most of that I experienced on my first playthrough and not as much on my second. Reducing graphics and taking it out of fullscreen helped a bit with the stuttering. Looked up fixes to the camera and people have been complaining since 2019 with no help. But hey, they did make a VR edition since then. ***** Motion Sickness Warning ***** Not ginger, nor Dramamine, nor water, nor light of room will help you. After 10 to 20 minutes, you will be too dizzy to continue. Would I recommend Lost Ember? If you're impervious to motion sickness and want to play something fast to kill time, sure. Squint past any bugs, find all the pots, and have a blast. You get to be a sad wolf. Is it worth 30$? It's a 5 hour game and doesn't feel like it gives as much as other games of the same price. Buy on sale. If you feel a lost ember warming you from the depths of your tummy, a queasiness, and a headache of hells to send you reeling, there are always refunds because it will only get worse.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

- A shallow and very short game(4-5 hours). The story is ok, but nothing extraordinary. I did not play it in VR. I think it only makes sense to play it in VR. And the price is way too high for what it is offering. + Nice ideas and cute animals. ~ Maybe worth the expirience in VR. ~ It is not a game but rather an expirience.
I finished the story in 4.5 hours... Thats with AFKing sometimes... Its insane how quick this game is. I like the artstyle and I can tell it was a labor of love, but please only get this if its on sale. Its creative, but the ammount of times I fell out of the map or got gliched is too many... idk If its on sale, totally worth it, full price? idk... If you want something "similar" to this game Go play Spirit of the North

9.5/10
The Ending Is What Truly Elevates This Game to Greatness
I've always felt that Lost Ember possesses a certain kind of unique magic. Whether you come to it in a restless state of mind or with complete inner calm, it has the ability to take you on a grand, poetic journey through a world of fantasy—one that is just as much a beautiful and soothing journey for the soul. More importantly, I believe this journey will continue to hold a special place in the hearts of certain players for years to come. Whenever they look back on it, they may find themselves revisiting that same lingering emotional resonance. That's certainly true for me: the feelings I experienced when I first played the game six years ago have not faded with time. If anything, returning to it today has only made them stronger. At its core, Lost Ember is, to some extent, a walking simulator. But thanks to its distinctive charm and atmosphere, it allows you to immerse yourself completely without feeling driven by any sense of obligation or purpose. You can simply slow down, take your time, and lose yourself in the journey. Running aimlessly across open plains. Soaring freely through the sky. Swimming without restraint through the water. Occasionally brushing past dandelions and watching them drift away in the wind. At other times, stopping before the ruins of a lost civilization and simply taking in the view... All of these moments form an essential part of this magnificent journey. Despite the game's relatively subtle sense of direction, you never feel bored. On the contrary, you're more than willing to move at your own pace and simply enjoy the journey for what it is. And then, at the very end, everything you experienced along the way is elevated to something greater. If I had to summarize Lost Ember , I would describe it as a story about self-redemption and the search for oneself, while also touching on themes of forgiveness, companionship, and saving one another. Yet it isn't until the foreshadowing finally comes together and the twist is revealed near the end that the player suddenly realizes something: The character we had believed all along to be the one in need of redemption—and forgiveness from others—was
never the person we thought they were
. Combined with the game's powerful emotional buildup at that very moment, the ending leaves the player with something deeply moving and lingering. More importantly, it finally reveals the true meaning behind the title Lost Ember itself. If I were to make a somewhat unusual comparison, this ending is like the moment at the end of Kikujiro when Takeshi Kitano's character reveals that his name is
Kikujiro
. Or like the ending of Ghost Trick , when the player realizes that the protagonist we had been following all along was actually
the little cat
. In my opinion, without this ending, Lost Ember would not feel nearly as complete—or as emotionally powerful—as it ultimately does. To be sure, the game has some flaws that are difficult to ignore. Texture pop-in can be noticeable, there are occasional clipping issues, and you may run into the occasional minor bug, among other things. But these imperfections pale in comparison to the game's strengths, and none of them significantly diminish the overall impact of the experience. I sincerely hope that every player who embarks on this journey can fully immerse themselves in the beautiful experience that is Lost Ember .
