Reviews
I love this game, with it's quirky take on the French Revolution and it's often bizarre card building, and honestly I do play it a lot.. However... The combat system can be a bit Janky at times, and often you need to level up a great deal to be able to actually use some of the better cards. However it is a joy to play more for the Lore and I hope that it gets expanded on or... extra DLC.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Good game
This game definitely brings some great and, most importantly, fresh ideas to the Hades genre. It's beautiful, rich, and mature in its own way. Liberte has its own core. It runs great on Steam. I highly recommend it.
Librete is a wonderful concept of a game, but falls short. It attempt to conduct itself as a rougelite, but rather feels like an experience that wants the player to die instead of a improvement of skill and character abilities. The random ness a rougelite/like offers is highly controlled, losing the feeling on how each runs feels unique to each other, while, at the same time, never feeling like their is beginnging, middle, and end to a run due to the only objective being the story missions. While the game brings unique concepts and an inetresting setting, this feels like a game that need extensive tests and returning to drawing to board.
If a Steam game has a long tail of rarely-achieved, innocuous-looking achievements like "beat the 5th chapter", STAY AWAY FROM IT. Either it's not fun, or the game loop doesn't work. Liberte fits both explanations for me. Its room-based combat is repetitive and metaprogression is uninspiring. I'd rather play Hades.
So close to good, but it ultimately fails. The voice acting is solid, the settings and scenery are gorgeous, the concept is original and the game is fun...until it isn't. Sadly, the brutal and grindy repetitiveness is not engaging or enjoyable or even justified (why do I have to hulk-smash tables and boxes in public places to farm silver?) and saps the enjoyment and immersion. There is no save system allowing for tactical reassessment upon death and there is only perma-death that sees you starting over constantly from square one. The balance is horrible, the difficulty unnecessary, and even with the story setting, it becomes a chore to play. I have six or seven hours in game, and I've only played two or three scenarios over and over and over and over. I truly wish it was more enjoyable because it hovers on the edge of greatness...but stumbles and falls backwards into the waiting abyss.
the game is quite fun so far and the story, aesthetic, etc. are creative and pretty much well done. my only big problem is that combat is a bit hard to control and the game starts lagging when too many enemies are loaded. it is most likely caused by my computer as it is old but other reviews are saying similar things. still worth a try if you are interested
A lot of promise, and yet so much unfulfilled

Score: 6/10
There is so much in Liberte that makes you root for the developer. The setting is novel and creative, the music engaging and melancholic. You get whiffs of brilliance in the merging of deckbuilder and roguelike mechanics and for the first 5 hours you will be inspired. In those first 5 magical hours the game will show so much promise and trick you into believing there is more to come: more maps, more skills, better enemies and the need to change your strategy. This promise is not fulfilled. The game is prone to soft-locks, the decks can be optimized in around 10 hours and the environments are repeated so much they become bland. There is no need to tinker with your own broken deck, and no need to explore other characters or swap strategy. You will defeat the same bosses using the same strategies over and over again. Good runs will be kneecapped by random soft-locks, as opposed to bad rolls or skill issues. I am giving this game a bare recommendation, just to encourage the devs to keep doing their work with the hope that their future projects are better nurtured. As for Liberte, only buy it on sale if you want to enjoy the initial game play loop. Otherwise, your money is better spent elsewhere. Note to game completionists:
Most achievements are trapped behind obscure progression tied to the story and tracked only by the story completion percentage. In order to 100% this game you will need to complete dozens of runs with a wholly optimized deck without variety and without excitement. Obtaining all the achievements in this game will not be rewarding, but rather a monotonous and thankless grind.
When i first saw that this game had only 1.5 percent of all players beating the first act i thought that was suspicious...playing it i kinda see why. Mechanically, its not bad. It feels a lil stiff with the dodge roll timing and the card mechanic is a lil gimmicky but ive definitely seen worse ways of implementing this stuff in other games. What really took me out is the story...like, you start off as a rebel, the prolouge has you almost assassinate the would be king trying to mess with your leader...but after that mission is done, the Flower Alien that Definetly isnt a Cosmic Horror God tells you to play all sides to look for a king for Cosmic reasons. and the first mission you get, right before it starts, is Ana the rebel leader and the Phillip prince having a chat with armed gaurds and its somehow not a combat? and then you proceed the assist the people you were just fighting earlier. Itd be different if no one really knew your face or name, but Phillip SEES you and a buddy try and kill him with a canon. And now hes taking your help no worries? I understand what the game is trying to do, its a rouglite with faction mechanics trying to blend the intricacies of a deckbuilder and the skill needed for top down action battle game, and that base is solid...but they arent even bothering to jump through hoops or leaps of logic to explain in story, everyone is just okay with this random man who plays all sides and mows down whatever forces he deems evil for that day with no immediate consequence. Sure, maybe 3 missions plus later they might start picking up on it, but the fact they dont do anything about it now is worrying. Its like a worst version of a skyrim protag, least in that game NPCs comment on your actions and have some opinions on them as limited as they are. Feels like either the story writing need a heavy rework with some slight mechanics to back it up, or to just gut the premise entierly...which at this rate the latter seems like the better option. Cause i dont think any rational human would just sally up with an eldritch being that just made a civil war worse by killing a promient religous figure, i dont care what their politics are like. If you dont care about story and just wanna focus on mechanics and skills, this might be for you but honestly there are way better variations of this on the market
