Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.13/day in the week to Jul 21 → 6/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It plays a lot like Frostpunk or This War of Mine with a mix of something Commandos-ish. Written scenarios and events with choices that affect morale etc, and very heavy on the resource gathering and rationing, and also every shot you actually shoot will drain from your supply of ammo. Likewise with healing, food items and grenades etc. Everything takes from your supply - in combat this makes every encounter a dilemma; should you engage and how offensive can you afford to be? Is it worth pushing or should you evade? It works well, it's a proven formula. Maybe not my cup of tea however. (you can change in the settings how much you want to focus on combat or resources, which is nice if you don't like that particular gameplay) I don't really enjoy the graphics though. It's rather minimal in animations and details and looks like it's from a couple of generations ago. The sound didn't bring anything noteworthy. It's ok. I don't think the enemy AI is good enough, wolves will behave the same way the enemy soldiers does, with set movement patterns and won't react to you if you sit nearby in a bush or tall grass. Enemy soldiers won't react to dead comrades either, which affects the immersion of stealth combat a lot, in my opinion. I think there are only 2 kinds of civilian NPC models? Babushka in a blue flowery dress or male in brown jacket. You see them repeat over, and over again. The story wasn't that engaging. It's there to keep you moving. Some parts are nicely written but mostly it's bland. I'm giving it a thumbs down because there are no middle grounds on Steam reviews and the game is OK..barely. Very mid and I find it flawed and not interesting enough to keep going beyond chapter 4. I feel like I'm done with this adventure already and ready to move on. Full price is 40 euro. I don't recommend it at that price. I got it for 16 euro, that feels decent. 6/10

Talk about an ax to grind! Last Train Home is mechanically excellent and, at its core, narratively solid. Yet there are a handful of distracting issues that, while the game remains fun to play, keep it from really glowing. Mechanically, the game is solid. The upgrade system is fun, and the resource and scavenging economy works reasonably well. There are times, however, when the balance feels strange. Some workshop upgrades are unreasonably expensive for improvements that barely matter, such as ammunition pouches. Special food and luxury items also tend to have minimal value outside of a handful of circumstances. That said, those circumstances can be memorable. At one point while traveling north, half my train was sick. I resorted to pumping my surgeons full of coffee while my depressed troops smoked all the cigarettes, and I finally found a use for the vodka. It was one of the few times these otherwise marginal resources suddenly became important, and I wish the game created more situations like it. Narratively, though, I have a much bigger bone to pick. Very early on, I started to feel as though the writers had an incredibly invested stake in presenting the Czechoslovak Legion in the most favorable possible light, because the axe-grinding is constant. The Legion is portrayed as almost unfailingly righteous, while the Red Army is frequently depicted as little more than a collection of lawless, barbaric savages. The White forces are treated much more warmly, if imperfectly, until their eventual betrayal, which itself receives surprisingly little explanation. The actual history was far messier than this framing suggests. The Czechoslovak Legion did not accomplish its escape through Russia in isolation, nor did its survival occur without consequences for the Russian anti-Bolshevik forces around it. During the collapse of the White position in Siberia, thousands of Russian allies and others were effectively left behind as the Legion prioritized securing its own route eastward. Many of those abandoned to the deteriorating situation would ultimately face Bolshevik imprisonment, execution, or later repression. For me, the historical framing crosses the line from simplification into propaganda. The game consistently positions the Legion as the morally enlightened protagonist while presenting the Bolshevik/Red side through imagery and behavior that reinforces a very familiar Western anti-communist narrative: communism as inherently barbaric, irrational, and destructive. You can certainly make a story from the perspective of the Legion—and the Bolsheviks committed plenty of brutality worth depicting—but there is a difference between telling events from one side and systematically stripping the opposing side of comparable humanity or political context. That is frustrating because the basic story premise is genuinely good. A stranded military force attempting to cross a collapsing Russia by armored train is an excellent setting for a strategy game. I just wish the historical narrative had trusted that premise enough to portray the conflict with more complexity instead of so consistently polishing one side while demonizing the other. 6.5/10. A very good strategy game mechanically, dragged down for me by an aggressively one-sided historical narrative.
This game is so good, but not perfect. As some people say it's very easy to exploit the AI once you have 5 snipers. But you can just not do that and play the game properly. I love the little stories and thd desperation. Really gives great immersion. If you are into tactics and strategy games with a great war story based on real life events to boot. You can't miss with this title.
Aliens Dark Descent, This War of Mine и Frostpunk.
They created a great way to storytell. History and strategy lovers will (should) love this game. It was a great experience.
