About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

I went online through the multiplayer tab. There were a dozen servers but no one online. Three servers most with one person, the last server i joined before I refunded had 3 people including me. What happened to multiplayer??
This game is terribly un-fun. The gameplay loop is this - Play as the US. The Soviets will use their vertical advantage to run away from you and you're unable to catch them. Play as the Soviets. The US will use their turning advantage to run away from you and you're unable to catch them. That's it. That's the game. Very little fighting. Very boring gameplay loop. This game is a pure simulation. Not a simulation-game. I guess it's intention is to replicate the real war? Unfortunately that "realism" is incredibly boring to play in a video game. This game caters exclusively to a niche group of enthusiasts. It's has very little to offer anyone outside of that group. If you are not a hardcore enthusiast of this genre, don't buy this game. If you watch the trailers and expect to experience a fun air fighting video game, don't buy this game. You will be extremely disappointed and regret wasting so much money on this, as i did.

Muy bonito todo, inmersivo, pero muy caro. Le faltan muchos aviones. F4U, Panther...etc. y si empezamos con la política de comprar cada avión por separado vamos mal. hubiera entendido un precio de salida de 50 euros pero 80 no.
Crazy good. Patches will help and they are coming.
Unfortunately, the game is a mess and doesn’t work at all on my 9070 XT. I first tried it shortly after release, and while it would start up, FSR was already having issues and I ran into a couple of other bugs, so I decided to leave it to cook for a bit longer. I tried it again, and as of now, it's completely broken. None of the AA options in the menu (FSR, FXAA, MSAA) are working. The graphics look generally weird and very jagged. On top of that, when trying to start the first training mission, the game crashes with a GPU timeout. None of the, I don’t know, 30? 40? games I’ve run on my 9070 XT during the last year of owning it have had driver timeouts - that includes DCS, MSFS 2024, and the older IL-2 GB. Only Korea. I’ve read about a workaround involving installing older drivers, but I refuse to do that for a single game in my fairly large library. I don’t believe this is a driver issue if it only affects ONE game... I suspect it’s something with the game’s engine, especially since it has had issues from the very beginning. I’m still willing to give Korea a chance once it’s finally playable, but for now, it’s just broken software sitting on my SSD.
Really enjoying this, its what we've come to love from IL-2 but updated to 2026 standards and in an amazing theater of Korea
VR SETUP here. So $80 buys me instant missions with lots of fun, superb graphics (I’ll explain) and some plentiful and complicated key bindings. RTX 4090, AMD 9800X3D, Quest 3, set overriding enhancements in NVIDIA Control App, set scenery ‘infinite rendering’ in the mission, set rendering 150km in settings, disable all graphics acceleration settings within IL2 Korea game and use good old OpenXR Toolkit, set toolkit to FSR and sharpening 80%, set resolution increase to whatever max your system can generate, mine does 3500 x (whatever), et voile, perfect VR instead and against the in-game rather sub-par and unnecessary graphics settings that generate distant trees as a blob of floating dots (?!)
