About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

Game is incomplete. I changed one control and undid hours of progress with controls. When you can't even get the control system right after 25 years of game development its pitiful to say the least. Theres no way to undo whatever it is i did maybe it was the amount of controls present a glitch whatever it maybe its a $100 game. What is this slop? IL-2 1946 functions better and that was made 20 years ago. This game needed more time and care that was not present. The difficulty system sucks the two hours i've wasted on this joke of a game was just trying to figure out how to fly. The controls that were supposedly working were in fact not. This is sad to see. What a great idea for a game Korea the untouched era and they just pissed on it and ruined it. Pathetic devs. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pathetic.

Not Recommended (for now) The game itself is well made and I enjoyed playing it. However, I will not purchase any further products from Russian companies while Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine continues. For this reason, I cannot recommend buying this game at this time.
Games has solid bones especially for ground attack. But the VR performance is not great for high end headsets. Unlike GB which is easy to tune the graphics settings, it is a totally shot on the dark to get solid performance. All the compromises that must be mad to get consistent fps overall runes the visuals outside the cockpit. The fact that the dev is leaning so heavily on DLSS to fix their performance issues and refused to implement foveated rendering, especially dynamic is a huge shame. Game is also still very cpu limited and the devs refuse to acknowledge that. Go to reddit and look up how Han stated they tested VR performance, and the cpu they used. I will say of you are a flat screen person you will probably enjoy the game as is. We will see if they can fix VR performance for high resolution headsets.
Not Recommended (for now) This review is written from the perspective of a dedicated VR flight simulation enthusiast. First of all, I want to say something that many negative reviews seem to ignore: It is obvious that the developers have invested an enormous amount of passion into this project. I followed the development for more than a year through the regular developer blogs, and it was fascinating to see how openly and honestly they shared the progress of the new engine and all the technical challenges. The amount of work behind IL-2 Korea deserves genuine respect. The new features are impressive, the atmosphere is excellent, and visually the simulator can look absolutely stunning. I also find it disappointing to read comments that attack the developers simply because they are Russian. Software should be judged by its quality, not by the nationality of the people who created it. The same applies to complaints about the price. In the flight simulation world, we all know that a single high-quality aircraft for other simulators often costs almost as much as this entire product. The price itself is therefore not my criticism. My criticism is focused on one very specific area: VR performance. I own a PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, an RTX 4070 Ti, and 64 GB RAM. My older IL-2 Great Battles installation runs beautifully in VR with Ultra settings and delivers an excellent experience. Also my MSFS 2024 works well! With IL-2 Korea, however, I immediately encountered serious problems. Using a Pimax Crystal Light, I received repeated "Not enough video memory" errors while loading missions, even after significantly reducing the graphics settings. The only way to avoid these issues was to lower the image quality so drastically that the visual experience no longer justified using VR at all. This is particularly frustrating because, on Ultra settings, the new graphics engine looks fantastic. Unfortunately, on my system I simply cannot enjoy that quality in VR with acceptable performance. I fully understand that this is a brand-new engine and that optimization takes time. I sincerely hope future updates will improve VR performance because I genuinely want this simulator to succeed. For now, however, VR users should be aware that the current experience may not meet the expectations created by the otherwise excellent visual presentation. I have therefore decided to refund the game—not because I dislike what the developers have created, but because VR is my primary way of flying, and in its current state the simulator does not provide the experience I was hoping for. I truly hope to buy IL-2 Korea again in the future once the VR optimization reaches the same outstanding level that the original IL-2 series eventually achieved. I sincerely wish the developers success. The foundation is clearly there. Now it deserves the level of optimization that such an ambitious simulator needs.
First flight sim game, yes the game is a bit expensive but it's a great game.
A good game with stunning visuals, especially in VR. It certainly makes Great Battles look almost cartoonish. My only gripe, I'm already over the new career mode where you can only be the squadron commander. I seem to be spending the majority of my time, individually awarding every pilot their wings and ordering fuel. I really wished they'd go back to you start as a lowly ranked pilot and work your way up.
