Set out on a grand adventure in this turn-based, retro style, pixel-art RPG, inspired by the great titles of the 90's. Take on the roles of in-game players taking on the roles of their characters in a traditional pen and paper RPG session in the ultimate meta roleplaying experience.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Aug 24 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Rather bad excuse for RPG.
I played this and dropped it many years ago not long after it was released. I revisited it more recently around end of 2025 and pushed through the game. If I were to evaluate this game from the perspective of someone playing in 2013 then I would probably give it a better review and score than what it has received from me. Fact of the matter is I played this game well over 10 years after release and need to evaluate it based on the merits of today's audience. The game is ok at best. Very simple mechanics, gameplay loop and art style. I'm quite sure i muted the game at one point because i couldn't handle the repetitiveness of the music which admittedly is a product of limitations at the time, much like the art style. That said even though my playtime is 30+ hours, I can't in good conscience recommend this game, it is simply quite boring relative to other options available today. I give it a 5/10.

Knights of Pen and Paper is a DnD inspired turn based rpg that leans into a grind heavy experience. Pros: -Lot's of fun meta humor regarding Dungeons and Dragons and other pop culture references. -A nice combination of different classes and characters to choose from that grant different stat buffs. -Some cool ideas in terms of fourth wall breaking -Fun enemy ideas Cons: -90% of quests boil down to go to this location, grind these monsters and then go to next location, and repeat. -Fights get very repetitive and boring, especially when you have to keep fighting the same monsters over and over when travelling or grinding for quests. -You do kind of have to grind, because otherwise the main story quests will be to difficult if you don't do side quest grinding. Overall this game is a low stakes love letter to nerd pop culture. I personally hate the grind loop that this rpg leans so heavily into, but for what is essentially a flash game, its not too bad and it accomplishes what it sets out to do. Rating: 5/10
[54%] Knights of Jokes and Grind
The game was fun at first, when I was getting to know the characters, classes, items and so on. Once I’d gotten the hang of everything, though, it quickly turned into a grind fest. This game does not hold up well. And it's SO grindy. Thought the paid version would be better balanced, but it still feels like a mobile game.
🎲 Jeśli kiedykolwiek chciałeś zagrać w Dungeons & Dragons, ale nie mogłeś zebrać grupy, Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Edition to idealne rozwiązanie. Ta turowa, pikselowa gra RPG to urocza, samoświadoma parodia klasycznych gier planszowych, pełna humoru, nostalgii i zaskakująco rozbudowanych mechanik.
Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition is one of those games that perfectly captures the spirit of tabletop RPGs while still being its own thing. The concept 10/10. You are controlling the players sitting around the table and each player you add to the group has their own personality, bonuses, and the character they play becomes part of a layered little meta-game. It is such a simple idea, but it works brilliantly. Building the party is half the fun. Choosing who sits at the table, what class they play and how the group works together gives the game a surprising amount of depth. You end up thinking about both the player and the character, which feels very close to the real tabletop experience. The humor also lands well. The game constantly pokes fun at classic RPG tropes. Quests feel like things a dungeon master might improvise on the spot (super common, lol) and the dialogue often feels like the kind of banter you would hear during an actual tabletop session. It may look simple, but there is a lot of love for roleplaying games baked into it. For anyone who enjoys classic RPGs or tabletop adventures, this little game feels like sitting down with friends, rolling dice and letting the imagination take over.
Simplistic thrash that never goes anywhere and begs you to buy "expansion". Severly overrated.
Good game and soundtrack. HOWEVER Native Linux doesn't work anymore. Launching with Proton makes the game jump to 60% CPU usage. Behavior change with ProtonGE
