About

The world is dead. The state has collapsed. In a forgotten Eastern Bloc town, you are alone but not truly alone. Something stirs beyond the walls, and none of it means you well. You have only one reason to keep going: survive long enough to find your wife, Valeria. But in the cold and darkness of this unforgiving night, will you ever make it back to her?

In the hellish streets of this Eastern Bloc town, every bullet matters. There are ways to fight back, but survival demands more than firepower. Use the weapons at your disposal to clear a path, scavenge tools to overcome the obstacles ahead, and avoid unnecessary confrontations whenever you can.

Iron Blight aims to deliver an immersive gameplay experience built around atmosphere, vulnerability, and the crushing weight of isolation. Every bullet matters, and the sound of gunfire may draw even more horrors to your position. Even something as simple as opening a locked door demands thought. You must manage your food and medical supplies, move cautiously through the streets, and always consider what might be waiting around the next corner.
True Survival Horror Gameplay: Navigate desolate streets and claustrophobic interiors, where danger lurks around every corner. Solve puzzles and face the terrors that will force a choice: fight, flee, or die.
Resource Scarcity and Tension: Resources are scarce. Do you risk using your last bullet to take down a monster, or do you save it for a more critical moment and hope to slip past unnoticed?
Diegetic Grid-Based Inventory: Every single item matters, and space is a luxury you can't afford. Carefully manage your limited inventory grid, making agonizing choices about what to carry and what to leave behind.
No HUD, No Distractions: No health bars, no ammo counters, no intrusive menus. Every piece of information is conveyed through your character and the world around you. Your only interface is your own perception.
A Unique Weapon System: Check your magazines manually, round by precious round, and reload with deliberate, step-by-step actions. Every firefight becomes a tense test of your nerves and skill.
A Bleak and Oppressive Atmosphere: Rain-slick cobblestones and flickering fluorescent lights lead you deeper into a town that feels cold, hostile, and suffocating. The distant cries of things that should not exist echo through its desolate streets.
A Return to Forgotten Horror Traditions: Fear comes from the atmosphere, the gnawing uncertainty, and the constant presence of death. The story is told through the environment itself, and combat is a slow, methodical dance where every shot matters.

Reviews

Nice RE-like
Decent gameplay and rather unique vibe.
insanely good game, unrealistic for a eastern European game though because my character didn't smoke 24/7
Pretty solid short survival game. Wish it was bit longer. Not too difficult is you're a cautious player. Really love the gun play and reloading mechanics. Love the open area exploration. Feels really fresh for a game in this genre. Would love too see more missions or level in this game or something similar from the dev. Personally I think its worth the money. Especially if its on sale. Solid 8/10.
This was certainly a great little survival horror. I enjoyed my time with it. The combat was fun and felt good, I think some key items could use a highlight since some felt easy to miss but it's a good little survival horror game that's FPS.
Iron Blight is a first-person survival horror experience built around vulnerability, careful exploration, and the constant pressure of limited resources. Developed by Ronesans Interactive and published by Rock Paper Publisher, the game takes players into a devastated Eastern European town where something deeply unnatural has overwhelmed what remains of ordinary life. The protagonist ventures into this hostile environment in search of his wife, Valeria, giving the journey a personal motivation that works effectively alongside the broader mystery surrounding the catastrophe. Atmosphere is one of the game's most convincing strengths. Empty streets, deteriorating structures, oppressive darkness, rain, industrial spaces, and unsettling interiors establish an environment where safety never feels guaranteed. Instead of depending exclusively on monsters suddenly appearing in front of the player, the game allows quiet moments to generate anxiety. Entering an unfamiliar building or approaching a dark corridor can feel threatening simply because resources are precious and the player cannot predict what might be waiting ahead. Combat follows the same philosophy. Firearms provide an important means of defense, but ammunition is scarce enough that shooting every hostile creature is rarely the ideal solution. Avoiding enemies or finding another route can conserve supplies for situations where confrontation becomes unavoidable. Gunfire can also create additional problems by drawing attention, so successfully killing one creature does not necessarily mean the danger has ended. This discourages reckless aggression and helps preserve the survival aspect throughout exploration. Weapon management adds another layer of tension. The game avoids giving players a permanently convenient ammunition display, requiring greater awareness of magazines and remaining rounds. Reloading and checking equipment feel like physical actions rather than instantaneous abstractions. These details make preparation meaningful. Forgetting to inspect a weapon before entering a dangerous room can leave the player struggling at exactly the wrong moment, while carefully preparing beforehand creates a satisfying sense of readiness without eliminating the underlying danger. Inventory management is similarly important. Available space is limited, forcing decisions between ammunition, healing supplies, food, tools, and other potentially useful objects. The grid-based inventory prevents players from casually carrying everything they discover. An item that appears unnecessary may eventually prove valuable, but keeping it means sacrificing space that could have been used for immediate survival supplies. These decisions provide much of the game's strategic depth and make exploration more engaging than simply collecting every highlighted object. The minimal interface further supports immersion. Rather than surrounding the screen with conventional health indicators, ammunition counters, and numerous markers, important information is communicated more naturally through the character and equipment. Players are encouraged to observe what is physically happening instead of repeatedly consulting interface elements. This approach can require an adjustment period, but it fits the intended horror experience because uncertainty becomes part of surviving. Exploration involves more than searching rooms for bullets and medicine. Environmental puzzles, locked areas, tools, and clues create reasons to investigate the town carefully. Progress rewards observation, and the ruined environment contributes to the storytelling. The game does not need to explain every disturbing detail immediately because abandoned locations and scattered evidence help communicate what happened. This creates a stronger feeling of discovering a disaster rather than simply being told about one. Its horror presentation combines disturbing creatures, isolation, graphic violence, blood, and grotesque imagery with psychological tension. The monsters remain intimidating largely because the player cannot afford to treat every encounter as a shooting gallery. Knowing that several wasted rounds could become a serious problem later makes even relatively straightforward encounters stressful. The quieter sections are equally valuable because they provide enough breathing room for anticipation to build again. The deliberate design will not appeal equally to everyone. Players expecting rapid gunplay and plentiful ammunition may find the combat restrictive. Manual weapon interactions can feel slow during emergencies, while limited inventory space requires frequent decisions about what should be carried or abandoned. The sparse interface also provides less immediate information than mainstream action games. However, these elements serve a clear purpose. The game wants players to feel underprepared, and removing those restrictions would significantly weaken its atmosphere. Visually, its stylized presentation works particularly well with the bleak setting. Dim interiors, decaying architecture, harsh lighting, gloomy outdoor environments, and retro-inspired visual qualities give the world character without requiring photorealistic graphics. Audio plays an equally significant role. Environmental noises and distant threats encourage players to listen closely, especially when determining whether proceeding into another room is worth the risk. Steam Deck compatibility is less definitive than the standard Windows PC experience. The game should be approached as an unofficial or potentially configuration-dependent Steam Deck experience unless Valve provides a formal compatibility classification. Proton may allow it to run, but players should be prepared for possible controller, interface, performance, text readability, or compatibility issues. For anyone purchasing specifically for Steam Deck use, the absence of a guaranteed fully verified experience is worth considering. What ultimately makes Iron Blight interesting is how consistently its mechanics support its survival-horror identity. Ammunition scarcity gives combat consequences, limited inventory creates difficult choices, manual weapon handling increases vulnerability, and the restrained interface strengthens immersion. Exploration consequently carries genuine risk because every encounter can consume resources that might become essential later. Iron Blight is therefore best suited to players who enjoy slower, methodical horror where survival depends as much on judgment as reflexes. Its oppressive environment and interconnected survival systems create a convincing sense of danger, while the search for Valeria provides a simple but effective reason to continue deeper into the ruined town. It may frustrate players looking for straightforward action, but enthusiasts of resource-driven survival horror should find plenty to appreciate. Rating: 8/10
Really good 6 hour single player survival horror game! I had a blast playing through this with minimal bugs and issues its well polished and short and sweet. Reminds me of a non-VR version of Organ Quarter VR or something. No traditional UI and its all in-world 3D game UI stuff was really neat; like VR game design for a non-VR game. The gunplay and level of challenge was nice too; there are segments that dared to throw enough zombies at you that other AAA games like RE9 wouldn't even do and I felt like a badass never even dying once on my first playthrough but barely surviving those giant horde moments. The only negatives is -The really tall zombies in the train yard when you go down into the tracks they scared me and I didn't know if I was gonna waste all my ammo on something unkillable *I couldn't tell if they were killable or not killable* so I ran back up and got them stuck on the stairs door then blasted them to death. It felt like I needed to be trapped down there with them to make that fight better and so I understand they ARE killable otherwise I would not be trapped with them. -The giant apartment building with the 2 fat guys THEY FELT unkillable but because the tall guys died when I got them stuck and pumped them full of tons of ammo from earlier I thought these 2 fat guys here would be the same and I was WRONG. They ate up all my resources trying to treat them like 2 bosses, did not die and I had to run in a loop with them frantically searching rooms with them chasing me and the smaller normal zombies felt bad here because I ran out of ammo assuming I could kill the big fat guys. Luckily I didn't die here but was so close to it and felt like some visual cue other than these 2 guys being fat would have helped me understand they are unkillable; like they have literal armor from factory work or something not sure but it felt bad to encounter and fight them and I would have liked just another giant horde in this apartment area than them. Or one unkillable zombie with armor that is slow that I have to avoid? Just not how it was done here. -For a game this short dev scope seems too weak. 2 player networked online co-op would have been sweet to go through the game with a friend/loved one. -The ending really leaves you wanting more and makes the short journey feel unsatisfying. Certain games feel satisfying in the end even if its a sad bad ending because there was a final boss or something worthy of being a final boss; the army coming wasn't good enough because their AI and number of army men around town was really easy to kill and get back to the boat that it wasn't even a challenge. Then quickly ending with getting back to your wife felt unsatisfying considering everything beforehand it felt like it was leading to a final boss or a massive giant horde but never got there. -Not a fan of the art style I think I would rather have ultra realism that uses my PC's hardware than lowpoly ps2 but first person honestly. Maybe this is just a nitpick because the gameplay was so good but I'm tired of so many games going with stylized looks with devs shaming realism that realism becomes rare and stylized low poly becomes generic as that is what EVERYONE does now. Its oversaturated. All in all still an amazing indie game. The systems are original and immersive that they make up for what the game lacks when you look back at the entire package. The audio design is fantastic and the journey is still worth experiencing. 8/10 Solid game.
