The game is easy enough to understand and the diversity of item and build system is expansive. The replayability of this gam can warrant to casual players at least 100 hours of game play if not more. I highly recommend this game to those who love creating unusual builds or meta builds or builds to slaughter everything in sight. I also recommend this game for speed runners to try out too as this game warrants a try out and you might be surprised about the game play. Yes it is like that of a indie game and graphics aren't polished like mainstream popular titles, but this is a hidden gem to those willing to pick it up. I highly recommend this game to play for all ages.
A Flawed but Still Intriguing ARPG Firstly, lets hit on the game economy. Gem meta-currency is a real grind; you'll need a lot of it to give to the various NPC's across the game, as well as to unlock new areas. On the flip side you'll be swimming in gear and gold. This is a theme throughout the game; you'll be grinding weather its currency or slogging through levels. Balance, or really the complete lack of will hit right away. Fast ranged weapons completely outclass the majority of other options. Moreover, generally there is a poor tradeoff between melee and ranged; with melee not offering enough upside for the additional risk required. I'm a little surprised the balance is so poor considering the items have fixed attributes. As a result later in the game as your build starts to come together its likely that most enemies (possibly even bosses) will become nothing more then popcorn fodder. On the technical side, the audio has some priority issues with certain player effects cutting into the background audio. Doesn't happen all the time, but happens enough that your gonna notice it. Even with all these issues I still think its a game worth playing. There is just something about the formula that makes you want to come back and keep playing.

Got a good set of items early on that let me steamroll through the first few sections. Then about 3/5 of the way in I ran into the Witch's Palace and got stuck. Just a massive spike in enemy damage, health, and mobility. There are definite balancing issues in this game and a lack of meaningful ways to grind up. Except for buying some permanent health upgrades, everything in this game comes from gear. Don't have good gear? You can't progress. Can't get an essential build item? Can't progress. It's a fun game conceptually and I want to keep at it but I've been stuck at this third section with no way forward except grinding old bosses for resources.
Really cool gamedesign, i like the melding and tinkrering on ways to improve my build. There is so much loot. I played bow only with controller and had a blast!
This is a fun little game to play between your bigger playthroughs! There is a huge amount of equipment in this game to make some crazy builds to either become a God of Destruction or to really challenge yourself judging from some of the items, seems like most people will have something they like here. Visually the game is very charming with nice pixel art and the theme variety for the dungeons is pretty good as well. SPOILER INCOMING: What i can't speak highly of is the Gate of Dispair, the whole game you're left to wonder what it's like behind them only for you to finally find out the disappointment it really is, instead of a real final dungeon you just get to repeat everything you've already done, every room, every miniboss and every regular boss. I would still recommend this game despite this as it is a good one to blow off some steam with, just don't expect a cool payoff at the end, there is none.
Only got 30 mins out of it before it refused to launch...
First off, Necrovale is a great game. The music and atmosphere are enjoyable. The itemization allows for some really fun min-maxing. The melding system is unique and I absolutely loved the cracked out builds it enabled. Bosses seem* solid. I can't give a full account of them though. By the time I reached the second boss, I had basically ascended to an unholy terror and proceeded to one to three hit every boss for the rest of the game. The first ten hours are absolute crack, and I highly recommend the game. That being said, the last bit of the game falls off hard. The final stretch is just a rehash of all the previous zones. I enjoyed the randomizer effect, but I feel like a new environment with a new boss would have been a better ending. As far as I could tell (again I killed everything in seconds) the final boss of the game is literally just the final pre-endgame boss again. For such a great game, it really sucks that the ending falls so flat. Balance is absolutely whack. I'm fine with this in the main, but we're talking insane discrepancy levels. My endgame build (no triple melds) could do 2.5mil dps in town from power ability. Nothing else I tried came close. Some weapons have affixs that theoretically should be a massive dps increase, but aren't. Sequence (which ostensibly repeats your skill in a line) somehow reduced my dps by 90% despite the large base weapon damage increase. Idk how that works. There's a ton of very unique items, but ultimately damage multipliers are king as usual. Taking everything into account, I still think the game is fantastic. I'll certainly be buying the devs next project when it is finished.
