INDUSTRIA has some great ideas, but unfortunately also a lot of unnecessary frustration. The marketing around "Half-Life in Berlin", surreal East Berlin, and influences from BioShock or Metro 2033 creates expectations the game simply doesn't live up to. Berlin is basically gone after a few minutes, with most of the game taking place in the fictional parallel world of Hakavik. If you're expecting a dystopian version of East Berlin, you'll probably be disappointed. Which is a shame, because I actually like quite a few things about the game. The story concept is interesting, some areas look genuinely beautiful, the robots do have a certain Half-Life charm, and the gunplay feels surprisingly good. My biggest issue is the amount of small design decisions that create unnecessary frustration. Important mechanics are barely explained, for example, crates that initially seem useless can later contain ammunition. I spent way too much of the game struggling with low ammo because of this. There is an optional objective that can also lead you into an area you can't simply return from. And then there are the achievements. The game asks you to finish without taking any damage at all, as well as complete a run without firing a single shot. Since some enemies shoot back, getting 100% essentially requires multiple playthroughs. So, Bleakmill: some of these achievements are absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moves. INDUSTRIA definitely has atmosphere, some beautiful moments, and surprisingly satisfying gunplay. Unfortunately, poorly communicated mechanics, questionable design decisions, and marketing that massively oversells the Berlin setting drag it down. Worth a look if you go in with low expectations. Perfect for achievement hunters with a masochistic streak. For me, however, it falls just short of a recommendation.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Visual design is pleasing, but the game is frustratingly difficult. Very few saves between fight segments. Very few health pickups. High fall damage. On top of that, rifle shots don't hit enemies at point blank. Replaying the same 10-minute sequence 5 times just because you've taken a couple of hits is not fun at all for a mystery exploration based game.
I got this at -90% discount and I do not recommend it. INDUSTRIA delivers a strong atmospheric experience supported by excellent environment art and writing. but it's held back by its weak combat, unrewarding exploration, short length and bad performance.
Atmosphere
INDUSTRIA has a strong atmosphere and excellent environment art. The world looks authentic, especially through its Eastern European industrial setting, with a visual style that at times resembles Dishonored. The spaces feel abandoned, industrial, and believable, and the environments are the strongest elements.
Movement
The scale and movement feel unusual. Objects, rooms, and furniture often appear smaller than expected, while the player movement feels slow. This makes me feel that the movement was designed to be something like a walking simulator. I get what they're going for, but faster walking and running speed would have improved the flow of gameplay.
Combat and weapon feel
The combat is one of the weaker parts of the game which only reinforces my thinking that this is a walking simulator first. You have melee, pistol, SMG, Sniper Rifle, and a Shotgun. Not the most uniques of weapons. They also feel lacking in impact, felt like shooting peashooters to tin cans (except shotgun which felt powerful). I find myself to keep finding ammos everywhere (it's the most reward for exploration) but ammo capacity is also very limited so that found ammo are wasted.
Exploration
Speaking of exploration, it's not very rewarding. The game provides rooms and spaces to search, but there are not enough meaningful discoveries, secrets, or environmental details to make exploration consistently worthwhile. You most likely find ammo which you can't get because you're full most of the time.
Lighting
The game is VERY dark in most areas, even in the brightly lit one because of the high contrast and shadows, making constant flashlight use necessary. Even then, the flashlight is not always sufficient. This is especially noticeable in darker combat sections.
Story structure
The writing has good moments, but the broader storyline is convoluted, not explained clearly enough, and very short... The game does not have a strong sense of acts, escalation, or payoff. Progression feels steady rather than dramatic, and the ending arrives abruptly without enough buildup.
Performance
Performance is inconsistent. The game runs well most of the time, but there are noticeable stutters and frame drops. I couldn't get a smooth gameplay a lot of the times.
Final thoughts
INDUSTRIA has excellent atmosphere and strong visual direction, but its combat, exploration, pacing, and performance issues hold it back. It is also quite short, with my Hardcore difficulty playthrough taking around five hours and it's mostly 'filler'. The sequel got mixed reviews which some claim that it's not as good as the first game which does make me confuse about what's so exceptional about this game.
Pretty cool if you enjoy the spooky unknown type of games like the Half Life series, Bioshock games and Metro series. Theres some really nice environments, gunplay is good, and level designs that guide you through (usually) pretty well. It's mostly a linear game with some shooting and platforming too. Really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Decent voice acting throughout, although the ending is weird. I don't get it but whi cares I had fun! Having said that, the game could use a few more patches to make it truly great (and I think the dev should really revisit this game all things considered). I played with a controller and had to remap keys to make it feel more familiar. Holding down the left stick to run is a pain and no option to push to run. Controller feels great btw besides the running thing. Saving at typewriters requires kbm, same with menus. Autosaves didn't actually seem to autosave. Some areas are super dark even though it's light outside, strange. But still I really enjoyed it. Glad I came across it and gave it a shot because I thought it was gonna suck but i came away impressed. So much so I'm going to get the sequel (hope they can make it better because oof they may have messed it up but we'll see).
The visuals are pretty and the world design is nice, however, the gameplay doesn't exactly hold up. The enemies are mostly all melee and hardly pose a threat to the player. Encounters are quite sparse and a lot of your time is spent walking from point to point and occasionally solving a puzzle (these end up seeming more like padding to the runtime than anything as they aren't particularly difficult). The story is pretty minimal and what is there just seems mysterious for the sake of being mysterious rather than actually being difficult to follow along, the end was rushed and seems like sequel bait more than anything. Basically its two hours or so of wandering and shooting the odd robot here and there, every now and then you have to fix a valve back onto a gate or do some random chemistry experiment as a puzzle but other than that you don't really do too much and that is the problem, there is a lack of interesting things to do. They have DLSS implementation as well but no FSR which is a bit annoying so if you are running an AMD card that may be worth keeping in mind, I still got a stable framerate around 120 fps most of the time at native 4K but I am using a 9070xt so it will obviously run well regardless with a game that is a couple of years old. On a sale for a couple of quid it is an okay purchase but for £16.99 I would say it's a no, there are far better shooters with far more content that are cheaper than this so it is worth grabbing something else instead in my opinion.
Everything here feels either very generic or flawed. In terms of lighting: there's some light fog everywhere that makes the flashlight obsolete. In terms of areas: you're always in some sort of street, apartment or factory - it all feels the same. In terms of puzzles: there's a couple mild ones at the start of the game, but none come after those. And top of that, the story and its many unskippable cutscenes didn't do it for me. 100% achievement completion boils down to 2 playthroughs - 1 no-hit collectathon and 1 melee-only run. The game is short and there isn't that much to do, so getting this one done doesn't take too long.
Play INDUSTRIA first before you play Part 2! If you're looking for a slower-paced experience with an engaging story, these games deliver exactly that. I highly recommend playing the first game before starting the second so you can experience the story as one continuous journey. Industria 2 improves on the original in almost every way. It features more action, better visuals, a longer campaign, and a more fleshed-out story, all wrapped in an incredibly immersive atmosphere. As a German, I found the references to East Germany (the DDR) especially fascinating. The cold, bleak nature of the socialist setting fits ATLAS and its machines surprisingly well. If you're a fan of Half-Life, there's a very good chance you'll enjoy these games too. Overall, I really enjoyed both games. Thumbs up!
Decent little survival horror-ish game with very Half-life 2-esque aesthetics. You can finish it in a few hours, but those will be pretty fun few hours.
