FYI this game requires an epic account for multi-player, which is a nope for me, so refunded the game.
I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to take the time to throw some positive words out to this game. I tried it when I first bought it some months ago and it felt a little too rough for my patience. Not rough like your average modern early access release, but like a well made survival game that was almost all there, but just needing a little more QOL additions. I just finished spending all day playing it, a good 8+ hours. It has improved a lot since then. The devs continuously push out small updates and hotfixes, sometimes it seems like a couple a week (don't quote me, I haven't checked dates). Despite this being released about 2 years ago, it is still being actively worked on. The world setting is a good size. Large enough for plenty of exploration, small enough to not be overwhelming. The map is not full of dead, open areas either. All the areas are well made and interesting. There are rewards for exploration in terms of loot and pathways. The ocean itself is also explorable under water, and above water (I have not unlocked boats yet, but they are there). Enemy variety is better than a lot of similar themed titles. Nothing amazing, but there is variety, and it is noticed and appreciated. Game mechanics are unique, I've not seen these before at least. I've heard it compares to 7 Days to Die, I think? I never played it, but the mechanics of having zombie bros trying to eat you while youre hiding in your base. The game has customizable settings, but a core mechanic is that after so many days, one night will have the dead rise and swarm you. They focus on you, where ever you are. So if you really don't want your base messed up you can just not be there. There is plenty of warning when it is coming, and with customizable game settings, you can change how frequently it happens, or disable it entirely. There are a wide variety of customizations for difficulty and grind-level. The other unique mechanic is the fairy. She's not obnoxious like the fairy in Adventures of Elliot, she just gives you an idea of what to do for the quest line. But more importantly, she is a combat mechanic. I compare her to the prosthetic arm in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. You can have her manifest as a shield, a ranged attack, a melee attack, a shield (energy/bubble type shield), and some other things. She has her own skill tree that levels independently from your own. She also unlocks a double jump ability. Oh and you can climb stuff Zelda BOTW style, but not everything, and it is some times difficult to get the climbing to start / connect to a wall. I play the hell out of survival, base building and crafting games. With this being a 2 year old title still in EA, and at the price point of around $20, it is a deal. Easily worth that in its current state. I was able to get a solid 120 FPS on max settings, but my rig is high-mid tier so frankly I'd be disappointed if it didn't run this well. The ONLY negative things I have to say are the following: -Enemy AI needs work, especially the pathing. They frequently get stuck on things when charging at me, where I can stand still and pewpew them with a bow from a foot away. They will "reset" and run back to their starting point, and on the run back they are invincible. A couple times now they have glitched out to where I'd kill them but they'd be stuck at a point with no visible HP, unable to move, but still attacking (and damaging) me. Unable to kill them. -I "fell through the map" twice. Not actually falling, but clipped through a wall and got stuck inside a mountain once, and another time stuck inside the rocks under a waterfall. TL;DR: Good game for what it is, still being actively worked on and updated, unique mechanics, only some glitching but rare enough to not be frustrating. Would buy again, will play again.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is a mixed review. The game is fun and you can spent a lot of time in it. Unfortunately like most UE5 games the performance does not match the required hardware. While I get stable 60 FPS without GPU running at 100% I only get it using DX11 and some adjusted settings. On DX12 I get like like 40 FPS under full blast and the graphics do not look that much better. I am also running Linux which might contribute... Gameplay wise, while it is fun to play, a lot of stuff does not make that much sense. You have plenty of armor and weapon blueprints to find but there is no reason to craft most of them. Either the stats are too bad to be better than the stuff you got already or it is just so incredibly expensive that you will level from 30 to 202 before you can even craft a single set. When it comes to weapons it is much worse. After you killed the one pirate and got his saber you can just stop hunting for weapons. Nothing is better and basically all the secondary skills on the weapons just suck. I hope the devs will play the game and find out how much nonsense there is. All weapons and armor parts need re-balancing so there is a reason to get them. Another issue is the ocean. It is fun after you got the needed gear but I never managed it before max level because without the right gear you got oxygen for like 1 minute and you are so slow that you can't do anything. The first oxygen "tool" needs a resource you only find on an island which you can only visit if you are high level... Yes it sounds very negative and the points I raised are. The game is fun though. If the devs manage to balance it in a way which gives a clear path to players (like do fishing early, do diving ealry or hunt for weapons early) then it will become even better. For now I can only recommend to level fast and do all bosses after you are like 30 levels above them. Ignore the ocean and ships until you are max level. The stock ship stands no chance anyway and will sink... And a hint: There is a very good reason to get the black animals as soon as possible ;-)
10 times less polishing than windrose but 10 TIMES MORE CONTENT THAN WINDROSE. far more chaotic fun than windrose. you will get bored quickly in windrose. you never get bored in IFSUNSETS. it's just chaotic unblanced fun. Fun comes from so much to do in absurdly complex way. so many items to make, so many areas to discover.
Very buggy in multiplayer. It looks cool and has potential but it needs quite a bit of work before it is playable.
Uses LLM for voice acting and coding. Somehow has the most basic mainmenu and settings that just do not work. I'm refunding this trash immediately. Can not recommend to anyone that has the ability to have a single critical thought. Also uses a trash Epic account.
Wow, lots going on in this game! Unfortunately this is a hidden gem so trying to research this game leaves you wondering what it really is. Lots are missing out on the potential here. Open world/ open ocean/underwater! Massive skill tree. Lots of loot. Lots of enemy variety. Different biomes. Naval combat. Survival crafting, horde defense. Did I mention you can build a water slide at your base? That doesn't even scratch the surface. Game needs lots of patching up to do but definitely worth the price in this current state. I bought an extra copy for a friend since I've been enjoying it so much!
Calling this game jank is like calling the sun warm. It's got some pretty fun elements, but as it stands currently, everything is unbalanced, skills are kinda trash, translations suck, super obvious AI-generated voice-"acting" is so bad it'll make you physically wince (even if you somehow do support AI), night defense is as simple as getting the skill that removes trap friendly-fire and just running circles on top of a giant spike platform, and certain design choices are absolutely wack. Like, the game treats the grappling hook arm as something that is for both movement AND combat, but you can literally only grapple twice with it before having to wait for your entire lymph to recharge for 50 seconds. If the devs give all of the content already in the game some TLC instead of trying to add new stuff, maybe it'll be worth playing.
I played this game in its demo then got it as soon as it came out into EA and sunk a good 50 hours into it. the game itself is a great game and is a nice refreshing way of playing survival with a tower defence to it. (a good thing for you 7dtd fans). Im not going to go on about the game play the mechanics the graphics because for me all these parts can be subjective to the person if they think it is good or not. Its good enough for me just a normal Survival system bench upgrades ect. The thumbs up for this is because Im an EA game person and get many in their early days and many don't make it lets be honest. but i have kept my eye on this game over the year and its Updates are big and they are good and its constant hotfix hotfix hotfix.. If you like EA game but are sick of getting caught out by the crash grab ones i feel this is not a cash grab and the devs are pushing for a good game
